FAWM 2025 - this is my fourth year, and I’m so happy to be back.

I’m always excited to collaborate on just about anything. If you’ve never collaborated but always wanted to, feel extra invited to connect.

I’ve been loving the Friday song circles on zoom that @unknownbecky hosts and the Wednesday European zooms that @wobbiewobbit hosts.

Last FAWM I got to visit London and the Ramshackle Collective @wobbiewobbit hosts and meet loads of UK FAWMErs

I love writing lyrics from scratch or to a piece of music or to a prompt. I’ll go ahead and come up with some music if I can’t convince someone else to do that part.
I'll also sing and play some guitar. I also found a clarinet while I was cleaning out my sister's basement. I can still play a scale, so who knows. Maybe a little bit of keyboard too.

Thanks for sympathy and advice on the Wednesday zoom call earlier. I did a couple get-it-out-of-my-system pieces, and was able to move on to other songs. Hit my 14 tonight. Just wanted to let you know I appreciated your encouragement.

Hi Nancy - You are forgiven for eavesdropping on a public forum! 😀 I haven't heard anything from @kc_, so I assume, very understandably, that his interest may be limited given my specific and restrictive needs. But if you're interested in my peculiar obsession, feel free to craft some lyrics for me to include. As I wrote to him (and as I think you already saw):

Thank you for noticing that I straight-up borrowed the guitar from @scubed for the Morph. I was surprised at how some of what I contributed was so persistent. It was a fun journey and I found your version very touching.

Thank you for your comment on "Cherith". You're pretty spot on! When I was a kid, my family lived overseas, and then suddenly had to move to the States. I was thinking back to my first few summers in the US when I wrote those lyrics.

Thank you for your kind words about "We're All The Same." Funny you mentioned self flagellation. Originally I had the lyric as "peel back my skin, we're all the same." It grossed out my wife, so I changed it.

comeback train is not perfect by any means. you have the sense of humor to pull it off, while my version is pretty flat. the lines in themselves are funny as hell, but they dong come of very funny in the way i sing them. if you dnt want it, i may attempt a new version of it at some point. while im on the subject, i am doing a multi collab with david taro and twelve other people (who are not yet decided upon) and you are on my list of people to invite. it is a hard rocking blues rock tune with 14 verses and a chorus.are you interested in taking a verse and adding your voice to the chorus?

comeback train doesnt fit onto either of my bandcamp fawm albums so i havent posted it on fawm yet, as i have been posting them roughly in the order they will appear on the albums. its subject matter just doesnt fit into either of the album concepts. if you like the song, i will give it to you to do with what you will.

Hi, Nancy, and thanks for the nice comment about On St. Valentine's Day, both here and on our song circle. I don't know why I do (and enjoy from others) so many "wrist slitters" like this about death and loss and whatnot, because I'm a happy, well adjusted guy with a very good life. Justin and I always joke that my lyric checklist is: death, murder, dismemberment, disease, addiction, war, pestilence, famine, wildfire, rape, incest and inclement weather. Same as Jason Isbell's 🤣.

The reason I ask is you referenced the lyrics from an older song, Wooden Horse Carousel, that's on my SoundCloud. It's from 2019. Would it be ok to get back to you is a couple days on the availability? I think if you wanted to do a song just for FAWM, that would be ok either way. Thank you for your comment on my sealy song, just being sealy, you know... but I did like making it descend chromatically, C, Bm, Am, etc makes sense but through that Bb chord in well, you have to do Abm into G after, right?
Could be icy water involved, but I think it's more a circus seal... maybe, just maybe that poor baby has memories of diving in the water as it's real life is clapping for THE MAN?
