5090: I’m pretty late to the party, but glad to be here. Excited especially about collaborating lyrics, singing, whatever.

From FAWM: Happy 2024, everybody! It's so great to be back.

I'm excited for lots of collaborating this season. If you have a track that needs lyrics or a phrase or a stray chorus that needs verses or whatever, feel free to nudge me.

I'll also sing and play some guitar. I also found a clarinet while I was cleaning out my sister's basement. I can still play a scale, so who knows. Maybe a little bit of keyboard too.

Overwhelmed with work stuff but will try to get you *something* soon.

Thanks for your comment on the "trouble I need". I like the scene you mentioned it brought to your mind.
[avatar]
Thanks for your attentive comments on my songs, Nancy - much appreciated!
[avatar]
Thanks for your kind words on "Haven / Haven't"!

Yes, the place those lyrics were written is owned by Ruth Hooke and her family. What a nice coincidence that you've stayed there too.
[avatar]
Hi Nancy, MP3 or wav?
[avatar]
Thank you for your delightful comment about “Forever Feels Like”. I’m glad to be part of your sound track for the day.
[avatar]
Hi Nancy, thank you for your comment on my renovation piece. It was fun to come back to it as I've forgotten how it sounded :) I'll me delighted to collaborate with you. Looking forward to your lyrics. Thank you.
[avatar]
,,,and you did a fantastic job with it. thanks for making something so fun and clever from my little verse. youbrought the whole picture back to me, not just the lassies on the corner.
[avatar]
thanks for the comment on that 'luck' song- as it turns out, everything worked out great! thanks again!
[avatar]
Thank you so much for commenting on My COVID song and the Photograph collab. I appreciate you.
[avatar]
Re: No Predictions - you hit the nail on the head. We all have emotions. Even science doesn't cover them up.
[avatar]
I added banjo to Banjo in the Closet - if you add me as a collab I can update the demo!
[avatar]
Hello lovely friend from across the water. Wanted to thank you for popping by and putting comments on my song ‘hard to believe’ So much happening I’ve been far from prolific. But maybe FAWM will change that..
[avatar]
Thanks for commenting on Meesgaas!
[avatar]
Hi Nancy, thanks for your comments on Every Day of My Life. If you would like to give a country feel to the lyrics, Del, and I, would like to hear your take :)
[avatar]
Thanks for listening to R.I.P. Van Winkle! I really appreciate your comments, yes, dead? sleeping? Lazarus? Rip Van W? I like the way all these stories can jumble into something else.

Also thanks for the Shallow comments. It is always the lyrics that are the bottleneck for me, but with that one, they just kind of happened, and it ended up being more coherent than I expected.

I've still got no closer to recording your great words for those songs you did in Feb by the way - I've just got into a guilt/denial loop that I can't get out of. In fact, I've kind of done that with 50/90 this time and although I've kept writing I've not really been able to post much of it up for some reason. Quite annoying!
[avatar]
Hi Nancy, I'd love to hear what you came up with I'm Gonna. Send it to johnaniecki@aol.com, please.
[avatar]
I will put together some music this weekend and send it to you.
[avatar]
Thank you for your words on Aphasiatic Prayers! I am glad you found some comfort in them <3 Wishing you all the best!
[avatar]
Thanks, Nancy. I hesitated to even launch that weirdo lyric, Berlin, but sometimes I guess the wings need to get shaken out a little.
[avatar]
Hi Nancy,
Thank you for listening to and commenting on quite a few of my songs. I would love to do a collaboration. Do you want me to record some music for you to work with or do you want to start? We could do that ping pong thing from FAWM, bouncing ideas off each other as we move our song forward…
[avatar]
Nancy, I am humbled by the attention and kind words about “Lullaby for Insomniacs”, “Summer of Pain” and “Hate Object” etc 🙏🏻. I start to feel the pressure to live up to the hype in the future. Fortunately I have some repetitive and less imaginative things coming to break away from my five minutes of fawm fame.5️⃣🆒 🔊🎵🔜🔚👽
[avatar]
Thank you so much for your very kind words on Dirty South! I do a lot of one takes for demos, my brain won't let me finish writing a song otherwise 😆I hope you have a fantastic September!
[avatar]
Hi Nancy, you're welcome to any lyric that strikes your fancy. Looking forward to it. Thank you very much!
[avatar]
Thanks, Nancy, for given one of our songs a listen! 🙏🤗
[avatar]
Hi Nancy. Thanks for checking out "Sing a Song of Love and Loss". Although the theme had the potential for a more somber approach, I felt a real bounce to the lyrics when I read them and that sent me in the direction that you heard. I wish I could claim that my thought process was as meticulous as your comments suggested, but, no - just going with the verbal bounce.
[avatar]
Ah, thank you for the lovely comment on Mamas Quilts. Antique quilts need to be aired out every once in awhile, fold it up in tissue, don’t suffocate them in plastic or enclosed spaces.
[avatar]
Hi, Nancy, I thought your comments on Paul Pedersen's version of Sing A Song of Love and Loss were very insightful. He did choose a rather spirited treatment of the sad lyrics, and he commented that his version might be "better as a theme for a college fife and drum corps." That's the beauty of multiple collabs; you get to see how different musicians interpret the same lyric. I think it's fascinating. Thank you for taking the time to listen and comment.
[avatar]
Thanks for your kind words on my slothcore song! I did just toss one up with vocals (got a new mic and couldn't resist) 😊
[avatar]
On a sidenote to one of your comments, I love that you mentioned how our thinking can set in even in a good relationship, making things feel worse than they are. Being in a good relationship, I've definitely seen that to be true. Love your perspectives.
[avatar]
Saying hello and thank you for all your comments. I have kind of dropped out hard, with everything going on, but I was realizing tonight I just need to sit down and DO STUFF, otherwise I can't complain when nothing comes. LOL. So appreciate you and those who lead this thing, for nudging us to keep creating.
[avatar]
Lieben Dank für deinen schönen Kommentar! Ich hoffe, dass ich noch mehr dazu komme hier mitzumachen und auch in andere Lieder reinzuhören! Wie toll, dass du wieder dabei bist! Alles Liebe!
[avatar]
Thanks for your kind comments on Cali Girl. I have a few songs that are just "jams" that I fall back on when my voice is tired or I'm wanting to just noodle on guitar, and just will try to add new parts or explore new areas of the fretboards. This is what I mean by a forever song, and they are typically hard to add words to (for me at least) especially as the music is typically harder to play so my mind doesn't have the space to search for lyrics while playing. Was a good prompt to explore the space.
[avatar]
Nancy, thanks so much for your comments on my songs! I think my favorite was on "my baby asked me not to" when you said that it's hard to be human. And maybe that a main point in the song. Thanks for listening!
[avatar]
Thanks for the comment! And if the Stones want to use it I am great with thst!!!
[avatar]
Hi, Nancy. Thanks sincerely for the listen and sweet comments about The Estate Sale. It's funny, you thought about doing it even slower because the lyricist on it is asking me to look for a way to do it a bit faster, although I think that's mainly because he understandably wants to shorten the length of it from five and a half minutes. I think we'll have to cut some bits out to really get it even under five even with a brisker tempo. Ear of the beholder, right?
[avatar]
@igg1
Hi Nancy,
Thanks for the listen and comments on my songs.....!
[avatar]
Thanks for the comments Nancy (on that Devil/Sparrow thing) -- I should copy them to the liner notes; they're a much better description of what's going on!
[avatar]
Thank you for listening to "You Don't Live Here Anymore (Razzle Dazzle)" and thank you for your comment. What's great about this group is that I learn more about my songs with each new comment. I love your perspective on the chord tension and the lyric. Thanks!
[avatar]
Thanks so much for the song comments!
[avatar]
If you listen to https://fiftyninety.fawm.org/songs/300182 you will hear what I mean about sounding like Elvis. lol
[avatar]
Thank you Nancy for your kind words, I am glad that you liked my song and story. It try when I can to write a story. I am returning to writing songs again, it's been over 30 years for me to even pick up a pen. So I hope you like what you find on this site. I do not know if I will put them up for anyone else to hear but I appreciate your feedback. And to answer one of your comments. I use my voice through a computer, which generates an AI-younger voice, but I still have a problem with some of the reverb in it, I type in the lyrics, and the female voice is AI-generated. I have a recording of my self when I was younger and that helps the AI generate my younger voice version. I sound like Elvis when I sing. LOL. Since he is dead no one can say its him now.
thank you

Thx for the comments! Re: Answers...I wouldn't call the dismay mild. My job was already a difficult one most cannot do, much less well, sadly.

I work in inventory. I count things all day. Very good, very fast.

But as a supervisor, I have functions that keep me from the count, which drastically increases time and reduces efficiency.

And it's not new. I've been with other companies in higher positions.

On top of that...we had a nasty storm here a couple days ago, power is out and will remain so for about a week. And mobile is unreliable. I can't make or take calls or texts.

And now my alternator is going.

Grr.

Thanks for the great comments on Touchstone, Open Your Eyes, and Working From Home. I appreciate you taking the time to listen and comment on all three!
[avatar]
Thanks for the note about Zoom call, I was able to pop into the US one last week, but the times for both of them are a little off for me, but it was fun and got a couple of book recommendations I look forward to jumping into. Enjoying listening to everyone's song and making a few myself.
[avatar]
Hey, hi! Thanks for the insightful comments after listening to "Write Me Off the Page," "That's What," and the "Boo Hoo, Baby" collab! :) I really appreciate it. Hope you're well!
[avatar]
thanks for checking out my songs and lovely comments!
[avatar]
Thanks for the comments! Love the feedback, and it comes during a 5090 lull for me, so it's a good nudge to refocus.
[avatar]
Nancy I fully support your view on seeing whom you have commented on I have successfully done this manualy for the last 2 years but it is very hard! I agree it’s very Fawmlike community thinking. I have raised this issue with the team.
[avatar]
Wonderful. I will send they lyrics to you by tomorrow. I’m very much lookin forward to collaborating with you.
[avatar]
Aw Nancy! Thanks for the listen and your ever thoughtful feedback. I really needed to hear some positivity from a friend today, and your comment made me tear up. Good to hear from you, and excited to check out some of your tunes in the coming days and weeks!
[avatar]
Hello there! I was wondering if you'd be interested in putting music to some lyrics.
[avatar]
Thanks for your comments on 'Girl On A Train', you're more than welcome to give it a go if you want? I'm so happy people even read them at all, I'm early on in my lyrical journey 😄
[avatar]
Thank you for the comment on "My Paper Home."
[avatar]
Nancy thank you for all the positive encouraging comments on so many of my lyrics. I didn't realize you looked at so many.!
[avatar]
Hi Nancy, good to see you back. Looking forward to your tunes 🎵
[avatar]
Hello Nancy and welcome back! And thank you for the warm welcome too. I've only written one lyric since fawm so I'm still shaking the cobwebs loose, but I hope to get around to writing some good ones soon. As always, feel free to grab any lyric that strikes your fancy. As for that thread, I think I'll pass for now. I had a feeling you would like Appalachia. I so admire those people.
[avatar]
Hello! Thanks for checking out my tune. Let's get this party started!
[avatar]
thank you for the kind words on "Core" - I really appreciate it!
[avatar]
Thanks for popping by and taking some soothing sips from Granny's Best China!
[avatar]
Do I search for you on Soundcloud by Nancy Cunning?
[avatar]
Thanks for your comments on 'It's Scary Now.' Means a lot. Having a plot is challenging because the singers move the story along ... while clarifying their feelings.
[avatar]
Hi Nancy!
So you are here!
Hopefully hearing something from you, too!

Hi Nancy, thank you for your wonderful comment on my skirmish piece. I appreciate your thoughts. I hope to hear your songs soon.
[avatar]
Wow, thanks for your very generous offer to sing on a dulcimer song! I'm reacquainting myself with your music right now on Soundcloud and you have a terrific voice (unlike, um, me! 😀 ). Let me work something up and I'll circle back around with you.

Thanks again!
[avatar]
Thx for your encouragement on Joyride hope you well and hope you enjoy 5090
[avatar]
Nancy, thanks for checking out the lyrics on Sing a song of love and loss, my experiment with a multiple collab. So far, I have only one taker, so who knows if this idea will work out. But I appreciate your support, and I agree with you that a different music style can make a huge difference in the whole feel of a lyric. That's what I'm exploring with this experiment. We'll see if it works! Thanks.
[avatar]
Hello there lovely Nancy !! Good to see you too. Will check out some songs later but till then glad you’re here been looking forward to engaging. See you soon.
[avatar]
Thanks for your thoughtful comment on that Day After You Song! Great to see you again, virtually. I'm on my default "flaky" setting this 50/90 it seems, but will hopefully be able to contribute a bit more as the 90 days kick along.
[avatar]
Thank you for you comment on "Look At Me" - and what a great observation Nancy! It was a skirmish write so I did it fast and honestly I liked the pacing of the verse but had not thought about it in relation to the song concept - so thank you for pointing that out!
[avatar]
Thank you for your kind comment on "Pithy-Sounding Sayings"! I'm tickled that a toddler wanted to hear it again 😀
[avatar]
Ah, there you are! Glad you could make it, Nancy!
[avatar]
Nice to see you again Nancy!
[avatar]
Have a great 50/90!
[avatar]
Hey Nancy! 👋
[avatar]
Hey Nancy! Looking forward to hearing your songs this year!

Rock on, Nancy
[avatar]
Howdy Nancy,
Good to see you back here. As you may know, the world is populated with us former clarinet players. Still have mine but haven't played it in decades.

Let's do this. Have yourself a great 5090.
[avatar]
Thanks so much, Nancy. :)
[avatar]
Hey Nancy, have a great 5090!
