Not In The Mood

by @wobbiewobbit · @richaaaay

Lyrics

what is that sound?
Ooooooo
get a whiff of that riff!
Yeaaaaa

It’s begging for some lyrics
To shout and raise our spirits
lets sing and push the limits
Come on, belt it out

i’m not in the mood
despite the groove
i can’t bring myself to sing the blues

don’t mean to be rude
i’ve lost touch with my muse
i’m just not in the mood

not in the mood
not in the mood

i’m sorry but i can’t bring anything
cant muster up the will to sing
havent got it in me, dont wanna pretend
havent got the energy to expend

i’m not in the mood
despite the groove
i can’t bring myself to sing the blues

don’t mean to be rude
i’ve lost touch with my muse
i’m just not in the mood

not in the mood
not in the mood

This is sooooo good! Great guitar and the interplay and theatrically of the two voices makes this something extraordinary. Comedy? no, not really. Cabaret definitely. Top class.!
[avatar]
i was not in the mood, but now I am, cool song! you should turn this into a full production!

Love every bit of this (well, I'm only half way through but I've got a good feeling), the chorus is incredibly enjoyable - @wobbiewobbit 's croons on the second time round are great - you are both able to do great things with your voices. It has the form of a comic song but it really doesn't feel like one or it doesn't feel superficial, it feels meaty because the guitar part is really interesting, and the meta aspect of the ennui is handled really well so it doesn't feel just like a song about trying to write a song. I guess because it communicates the emotions associated to me really effectively. Great one.

Am going out to buy some vegetables now with this song revolving round my head... I'm not in the mood!

Classic collaboration. The vocal interplay makes this so much fun, and the groove pulls everything together effortlessly. You two always bring something special to the table.
[avatar]
Amazing, awesome, fabulous. And everything everyone else has already said.
[avatar]
Goodness people! Oh the back and forth vocals are terrific! Wow what a great collaboration
[avatar]
Dang, people! You got some serious acoustic swagger goin on here. Talk about keepin' it real! Love the vocal repartee between you two. Oh man, this is a FAWMfave of mine. Love the groove as the perfect backdrop for just not being in the mood, despite how cool it all sounds. We all got days like that. You nailed it. Great collab!

@n24
You guys do the best collabs. I just saw this was up (I'm a little slow on the catch up this month) and had to head over straight away! I love the conversational styles you guys stitch together. There's a beautiful meta narrative about singing a blues song about not being in the mood to sing blues, it's so genius! I also feel the acceptance of just not feeling it is really sweet, especially as the @wobbiewobbit part starts off so eager to encourage singing but also equally quickly just accepts today's not the day. Super on groove guitar as always Rich and a pleasure to hear your vocals :)
[avatar]
Haha! Brilliant! Okay - I'm sure there's an EP lurking somewhere right? Right? C'mon there has to be. The two of you have a great chemistry and when I see that there's a collaboration posted, I'm pretty sure I'm gonna feel good by the time the demo times out. I can relate to the subject matter. I just never thought to do it with humor! 😄
[avatar]
*snort* I like all of @wobbiewobbit 's quiet protests in the first half. Nice textures to @richaaaay 's vocals and guitar groove.
[avatar]
Ha ha, best thing I've heard all day! I definitely got in the mood after listening to this! Playful and fun!
[avatar]
For some reason, after listening to this I just can't bring myself to make a comment. If I could, it would be to say how much I enjoy whenever you two collaborate. The gentle tongue in cheek humor of this song made my day.
[avatar]
Just love the back and forth. What great guitar playing, such a wonderful collaboration, shows how comfortable you both are and you let each other shine. This was wonderful to listen to!
[avatar]
Creative, entertaining, and funny! Some killer lines with theatrical deliveries. A collab well done.
[avatar]
Oh! This is great! I love the narration of the experience of the music we're all having -- and the back and forth of the two voices. (also "get a whiff of that riff" is both an excellent lyric, and a representation of the great guitar work.). I'm glad that voice 2 is writing/playing/singing despite protestations to the contrary.
[avatar]
I love the way the performances play against the lyrics, with Wobbie's super-low-key cheering and Richaaaay's spirited declarations of lack of energy. The lively rhymes, vocal duetting and bluesy composition all make this a joy to listen to.
[avatar]
I couldn't click fast enough when I saw that it was a Richaaay and Wobbie collab! I look forward to this so much. Between Richaaa's tremendous guitar and Wobbie's brilliance in all the little vocal bits, this just elevates it so much. Totally entranced, as always.

Whiff of that riff!
Cool bluesy feel.
Fun take on In The Mood.
Wonderful dialogue and expressive vocals.
[avatar]
I love this, from the warmth of the opening vocals to how close-knit the collaboration is. And yes, that is a nice groove.
[avatar]
What an entertaining track! The guitar work and vocal interplay are fabulous and make for a truly wonderful listen!
[avatar]
Love this collab! Huge smile on my face :) The contrast in vocal delivery is so great, and the interplay of the guitar adds a level of seriousness that makes this all the more fun. I hope this is one of many collabs for you both!
[avatar]
Fun song. @richaaaay gets a little pissed off whilst @wobbiewobbit fills in with a oh-that's-ok vibe.
[avatar]
Keep this on the down low, but you two are my all-time number one favourite bestest FAWM collab team. Like @andrea, I always look forward to your joint efforts, and so I’m delighted and grateful that you’ve managed to get this one done even if Rich just clearly IS NOT IN THE MOOD RIGHT NOW. The way Wobbie tees it up with the opening verse is comedy song 101 - perfect set up. And then the way Rich’s bits go from sullen to hilarious hostility is brilliant too. But we get it, he’s not in the mood, so this is all we get…. Except…. Another one? Just for us? Pretty please?
[avatar]
So glad that you two got enough in the mood to produce this fun collaboration.
[avatar]
I love this so much, that guitar is killer and Wobbie hits the ‘concerned friend’ vibe right in the middle while Rich appears to be channeling Randy Newman! I’m going to play it again!
[avatar]
I look forward to your duo every FAWM (and 50/90). Under dire circumstances you guys make a cool and relatable song ;) Love the feeling between you two. Nice guitar work and vibe.
[avatar]
Fabulous! Great guitar work and your vocals are perfect together. Great intermingling of a hooky melody and some lovely ad lib. Made me smile and groove.
[avatar]
Strong "Flight of the Conchords" vibes in this one, it's a lovely back and forth! I always look forward to your collaborations! ❤️
[avatar]
Really enjoyed the back-and-forth vocals and the super smooth guitar. Crazy laid-back song with a highly relatable and clever lyric.
Just a whole lot of fun overall. Great collab, you two! (-:
[avatar]
Oh this is super laid back and slick.. Rich your voice is fantastic on this despite not being in the mood. Wobbie I love your echos and ooohs, they are gorgeous... Great collaboration!
[avatar]
Very, very nice collaboration--nice and heartfelt with two very different styles! Do more like this! ❤️
[avatar]
Wonderful collab! Big grin on my face listening to this. 😀
[avatar]
Excellent collab! I love the acoustic blues vibe of the track and some killer riffs there. The duet style vocals are a real treat and love the call and response approach and sense of humour too.
[avatar]
this works so well, I can so see how this would be done on stage.

love love this!
[avatar]
I think this is becoming a regular event! Keep it going I say! We’ve had songs about songs now we are down to a riff, I love the response style! Funny clever cool!
[avatar]
You can write about everything. And so good puns under a good blues. I still want to see you live in a theater!
[avatar]
Sesame Street just gave Glenn Miller the finger. Well you could have fooled me! That is some slick blues guitar Rich. If this is half-hearted then I’d like to hear when you ARE in the mood. Fun duet.
[avatar]
Nothing like a sleazy dimly lit jazz blues club vibe. For a song about not being in the mood, this sets the mood to coooool 😎 in fact I think I will play that again. Top Collab.
[avatar]
This is bloody brilliant you guys!!! This was a right hoot to listen to! The interplay is a gas!
[avatar]
Can’t fake the blues! This is pretty fun, the interactions between you two are super fun to listen to.
[avatar]
Awesome duet!!! What a team. Loved it. I think we've all been there. Music, and vocal delivery work perfect together. You both go!!!
[avatar]
Love me some acoustic blues geetar!!
"i’ve lost touch with my muse" echoed with the geetar...stellar!
Wobbie love those Backup vox ...they set the mood.
[avatar]
Oooh, yay! Wobbie and Richaaaay for the win! This is like a whole reflection on relationship and music making and making art even when the muse takes a smoke break. I’m going to play this one every time I can’t quite convince myself to sit down and get started. I think it might often do the trick to get me in the mood. More please.
