Please feel free to critique, as it helps me to learn.

I play what sounds good to me. FAWM is fun because I have complete control, for better or for worse. My goals this year are to improve on my mic choice and placement, mixing/eq-ing, and hopefully encourage as many of the people around me to be a part of FAWM to any degree, including my wife and two sons, if possible. I also would enjoy collaborating again with my brother, @zecoop (thank you for getting me into this), as well as others who are interested. Writing a song or two with my sons would be great! In terms of songwriting, I tend to be very chordy and would like to give my songs some more space for layering of sounds and texture.

I truly admire the creativity in others and am energized when I am fortunate to have a spark myself, too. I also do appreciate collaborations and will do whatever I have time for.

*A note about collabs: If someone wants to collab on a song that I've posted, I am fine with that and will post it separately. I also am fine with multiple people doing the same song, as I find it fascinating to see how different people do very different things with the same music. My wife always gets the first choices on songs, of course.

Oh and I hadn’t heard of Coda Chroma before! Just listening now, amazing stuff! And she’s based in a small town just a few hours drive from where I am, hopefully will see a live show one day
[avatar]
Thanks for all your support. It's appreciated.
[avatar]
Hey Rob, thanks for checking in. It's been a rough start of FAWM this year mostly due to work, but I've got several songs in various states of disrepair. Hoping to get one or two posted today, and maybe hit a half-o-FAWM by the end, the way things are looking. Looks like you are cruising along apace! I'll try to swing by for a few listens as well. Let me know if there's anything in particular you'd like my ear for.
[avatar]
Hey, thanks for all the lovely warm words on my songs! Ha, it’s funny how small this community feels but then there’s literally hundreds of users that we’ve never crossed paths with, or forget to check back in with.
I previously knew of you as one of the coop brothers, so I’ve listened to a bunch of your collabs/stuff in the past. Nice to officially meet✌🏻
You must be nearly ready to kick your feet up once you hit 14!
[avatar]
I got it and responded!
[avatar]
Thanks so much for your kind comments on my songs, really appreciate the listens and feedback. Glad I've found your music this year and eager to dig in deeper. Happy FAWM!

[avatar]
All being well Rob I should have something for you tonight or tomorrow morning . I seem to have lost your email so can you send me one karlharrison25@hotmail.co.uk 👍
[avatar]
Sweet! Sorry, I wasn't implying AI. Sorry if I said something that sounded like that. You don't strike me as an AI person; you've far too much talent.
[avatar]
Thanks for your comment on "It's Magic". The kazoo is no trick, I use an around the neck harmonica harness.
[avatar]
Bob Mould FTW! Thanks, as always. For listening to my stuff… seems like you’ve got your mojo working this year!
[avatar]
Thanks for the comment on my palindrome song!
[avatar]
Thanks for the comment. Challenge accepted.

Oh man, Rob! You need to get a baritone uke, it's the best. The tubing is the same as guitar, and the deeper sound makes it a more serious instrument. I love mine, it quickly became my favorite instrument. I have a Makala, I think it was $99.
[avatar]
Sadly no Thailand this year, as am bit short on funds to whizz to the asian hammock, so instead I off on a ten day silent retreat in wales!! nearly the same ;-) . And cheers matey i will keep you posted. woohooo

I have used 4 tracks in the past (both a Porta07 and 424s but the Porta03 I have - I just haven't used it enough to feel comfortable to mail cassettes around. It's a relic. One of my tracks I did use it, partially because my DAW computer died on Feb 7. But that is why I bought it a few years ago, inspired by the YT vids. I have used my PZM but not recently.
[avatar]
Hey man. Thanks for your comment just now! The acoustic guitar is just me playing as normal - there isn't a second track (well technically there is but one is the DI and one is the mic picking up the same thing). I think it's just my way of playing!
[avatar]
Yeah let's do it! I'm having a crazy busy year and shouldn't really be FAWMing at all, but of course I'm doing it anyway....somehow. So let's do something.
[avatar]
Ok I just emailed you the file for "A Flip of the Coin" for you to post... Thank you!
[avatar]
Hello there!
Maybe I posted this tune wrong? Should I take my post down and send you the song? I just now saw your email so I'll discuss it with you there.
[avatar]
Ok perfect! I absolutely love the idea of multiple people doing the same song, it’ll be cool to hear how different they are.
[avatar]
I'd love to sing an idea onto Flip of the Coin if that's cool with you? Great tune!
[avatar]
Sent you an email with a mix!
[avatar]
Thanks for your kind words about Born Broken. Jacob always works wonders with my lyrics.
[avatar]
Awesome! Is there a bpm for "The Joy Smuggler" by chance? Or was it more free flowing? FYI: I will get to this but I can't start until next week.
[avatar]
no problem, dude. There was a question about whether SR. Coops was in the FAWM intro video we could have used your expertise on. Was good to put some faces to some handles, that's the first time I remember doing the zoom
[avatar]
THanks heaps Rob for your amazing comments and my tune thus far, and hope you're doing ok. happy my words helped but also so grateful you were able to share it all. Keep the bangers comin!!!
[avatar]
Hey Rob, welcome back, happy Fawming, let me know if you are feeling any collabs this time around. Looking forward to hearing what you make this year!
[avatar]

[avatar]
Ah no way! Glad to join the NEOhio few and proud. Thanks for the warm welcome!
[avatar]
Lots of energy here. Good job of blending everything together.
[avatar]
I’ve emailed you Rob! At least I hope it’s you and not one of the other coops.. Lord help me, did I confuse my coops one year? I feel like I did.. Anyway, IF you get it please let me know your thoughts before I continue playing with this track. And if you didn’t get it.. apologies… errrr ask John to forward it you?? 😂
[avatar]
HAPPY FAWM!
[avatar]
Cheers rob for the comment , and yeah it’s been a while since I properly rocked out . 🤩
[avatar]
Haha thank you! I also haven't said hello yet so we are in the same boat! I hope you have a lovely FAWM! Oh, I thought to send you a link to my 2024 FAWM songs if you still want to hear them since I promised I would share.
[avatar]
Thanks for the kind words Rob!
[avatar]
Hey Rob, have an amazing FAWM!
[avatar]
Hi! Great to see you too. I'm VERY up for FAWM this year. It might get a wee bit embarrassing tbh.
[avatar]
Aw, thanks 😁
I do my best to be the walking embodiment of the idea that metalheads are generally nice people! 😉
[avatar]
Once more into the breach! Y'all have a bunch of fun now.

[avatar]
Hola Rob, I look forward to hearing what you spin out for us again this year. :) I think of you and hope you and your family are well.
[avatar]
Hello Rob, hope we can collaborate again this February.
[avatar]
Hello! Thanks for stopping by! I hope you have a great FAWM and have fun making things. :)
[avatar]
Guatecoop! My favourite of all the coops! (tied evenly with the other coops of course) :p Hope you have a wonderful time! Would be awesome to hear the 2 minor coops with you! <3
[avatar]
Hey to you too! Hope this FAWM is filled with magic for you!
[avatar]
Brother!!!! Looking forward to having lots of fun. :)
[avatar]
Playing together again is my goal Rob!
[avatar]
Hey I’d be up for starting a 8 track tape @fairplay that could work its way around to @zecoop! I’ve currently got a 238, 688 & 488mkii that I could use.
[avatar]
👋

@axl
Hi Rob, looking forward to your stuff. Happy FAWMing!
[avatar]
Hello. I hope your FAWM will be pleasant to the ear.
[avatar]
hey there, all is well here, hoping the same for you, and I'm looking forward to another fun-filled February!
[avatar]
...hey! - thank you for the nice greeting!...

...generally 8-tracks are available almost as many as 4-tracks over here - personally at the moment i have a working 688 and a working 238 in my racks; @wehappyfew (UK) is publishing videos with his 8-track every now and then, the last one a week (or so) ago...

...if we ask around we might find more people with such machines; last year i started an 8 track that made its way via the UK to the US and was finished by @zecoop

Happy FAWMing to you!! I am taking classes in order to pursue my license as a substance abuse counselor. 🙂
[avatar]

[avatar]
Greetings, and welcome back!
[avatar]
Welcome back! I look forward to hearing your new creations. Happy FAWM!
[avatar]
Haaaay!!!
Let's do this thing!
[avatar]
Wheeeee ... here we go!
[avatar]
Hey Rob welcome back and I am so glad you have more time this year to really have a great FAWM!
[avatar]
No plans or any overarching strategy this year, just bang out some tunes, do collabs, some fun challenges and use some neglected gear…
[avatar]
missed seeing you mate! have a great fawm, I will be around!
[avatar]
Hi Rob good to see you back hope you have a great FAWM, and maybe we can aim for a collab or more this year?
[avatar]
happy FAWM to you too! thanks for the comment - most of my music is just guitar and vocals but I’m gonna be trying to add more casiotones and wind stuff this saunter around, e.g. my friend Juno got a clarinet and I wanna see if she can provide as a guest instrumentalist. maybe accordion too, I keep underestimating how versatile it can be. excited to put my ears on your stuff too when the time comes around! have a good one :-)
[avatar]
Hey, just wanted to thank you for your comment on my profile! Such a nice community.
[avatar]
Just stopping by to say Hello.! Have a great FAWM
[avatar]
Obviously a vocal track would be an easy add for me. Think about what could happen. I've been wanting to do a collab with @zecoop for a few years now.
[avatar]
Glad to see you here as well! All the best to you in FAWM!
[avatar]
So glad to see you here! Let's see what sort of trouble I can get into here. Who knows, maybe a Cooperider collab?
