Liner Notes

Robyn: So Kristian sends me this hella dancey track and says it's going to be light and fun because the world is fucked up and he just wants to dance, and I was like well shit, me too.

Lyrics

All around there is violence
From those in power, there is silence
The media tries to hide it
But I know, oh I know
There must be something we can do, they say
And I'd love to see the day when it happens
But the world is fucked up

And I just wanna dance to the rhythm
Of the ground beneath my feet as the walls come tumbling down
Do you hear the music
Do you really feel the beat of your heart as you spin round
Like the earth
As it burns

And after fire there is rainfall
And after rain comes the birdsong
And even armageddon
Cannot wipe the world away
There must be something I can do, you say
And I'd love to see the day you believe that
But the world is fucked up

And I just wanna dance to the rhythm
Of the ground beneath my feet as the walls come tumbling down
Do you hear the music
Do you really feel the beat of your heart as you spin round
Like the earth
As it burns

Ooh
And the world is
And the world is
And the world is fucked up, fucked up, fucked up

And I just wanna dance to the rhythm
Of the ground beneath my feet as the walls come tumbling down
Do you hear the music
Do you really feel the beat of your heart as you spin round

I just wanna dance to the rhythm
Of the ground beneath my feet as the walls come tumbling down
Do you hear the music
Do you really feel the beat of your heart as you spin round
Like the earth

Superb stuff. this is sounding so clear. And I agree about the world: let's have more fun!

fantastic :) such a cool UP track and i love how it relishes dancing amidst the destruction. something about that adds so much to the abandon of the chorus. great swearing ;) esp that bridge haha. love the walls tumbling bit. top job, that backing track is so dancey and energising, you really hit a sweet spot with the juxtaposition of up, and like, really really bad!

Great, uplifting collab. Love that beat when it breaks! I needed this energy in me this morning! Digging the fuzzy vocal filter, too.

The burst into the chorus is so gloriously 80s! But the message is so timely and relevant today (as, well, I guess it so often is). Sometimes you've just got to let go or the world will crush you, and this song captures that feeling perfectly.

Classic! Interesting vocal effect--not robotic, lotsa static/distortion, but not so much as to cover up your always-lovely voice. Great song--great collaboration! ❤️

Oh yeah, talk about transitions. This is great.

Well this is certainly getting me going this morning! And, well, sometimes what else is there to do?

That intro is absolutely epic! When the chorus kicks in, it KICKS IN! One heck of a drum beat. Love the delivery of "but the world is fucked up" before the chorus as well. If this song don't make you smile, I don't know what will

I love this—dancing in my chair! How delightful, to take joy in the moment, and simultaneously know just how fucked things are.

I remember reading about dadaism as a kid and just not getting why that would be a thing. Fast forward to adulthood, and I so understand and appreciate why Dadaism began as a movement and why it feels so eerily familiar and perfect for our times right now.

All the way through that first verse I was getting more and more excited, because I got the feeling that that the chorus on this was not just going to be very special, it was going to be HUGE. And folks, you did not disappoint. It was!
Pure 80s chart gold!

80s vibe: check. Deft arrangement and production: double check. Pants-kickin' vocal delivery of front n' center lyrics: triple check! CTS' envy factor: Is off the charts.

'nuff said.

Crazy good 80s dance groove in the chorus. Really liked going from the happy dance part into the more sinister parts, but I just like to dance. Get the sense that the song is encouraging people to dance because the world is messed up and there is not many more answers but fiddle as it burns. Definitely and interesting blend of two ideas and the dancing surely wins every time.
