Year #18.. I am Mike and I live in South Central Mass, halfway between Providence RI and Worcester MA. I am a guitar based singer songwriter and my songs are mostly folk and Americana in nature, but I like to experiment and I like to collaborate, so FAWM is my opportunity to throw myself in the musical blender and mix things up. Some great stuff has happened here for me.

My most recent CD is called Light Still Shines The Same completed in December 2024. You can see the album at mgutierrezmay66.bandcamp/artist/light-still-shines-the-same. I should add that half of the songs on this album were first created as part of FAWMs 2023 and 2024.

Like last year, this year I feel rarin' to go. Last year was also a hard year. This FAWM will be in part about kicking out those jams.

Hi Mike, thanks for your nice comment. I record with Ableton Live. I use a rhode pc48 mic. It’s the first mic I’ve used that actually worked well for vocals. I’ve been using Ableton for a lot of the instruments lately because I want to get better and it’s good practice to learn the software. But for that track it was just me and the guitar. I wasn’t even using a pick. Just getting the song out there to move on to the next one. Honestly I just think it was a lucky recording because I liked the sound too. I usually don’t !!
I just quickly mastered the track with Ableton too. It was only one track. Hope this helps!! I think I’ll look up that challenge too :)

A "Jessie" is a Northumbrian (and Lowland Scottish) insult to a guy who isn't macho enough and shies away from doing macho things - like refusing to play rugby or other rough games, or else will not drink ten pints of beer an evening, etc. 😈.

PS Yes, "Nessie" is the Loch Ness Monster. My narrator is saying that the info he has been fed, which set him off, is as unreliable as reports of that famous creature!

Shoegaze is basically adding tons of effects on your signals. Create a big sound with less tones. Quite hard to nail. I was happy to have some presets otherwise... no idea what people use!
I'm not sure if this song needs vocals. May let it rest for a while...
