2025: Welcome back everyone! How can this be my 4th FAWM already?! I really don‘t know. Anyways.
This year I‘m really going in with an open mind. I just want to get the flow going, immerse myself in music and let my muse decide what she wants to birth out of the grand soup of never-ending songs that exists somewhere in the endless depths of the universe.

I‘m just happy to be here. Happy to create, happy to listen and be part of that madness and beauty that each February guarantees.

Thanks bunches for your encouraging words on my take of “Chasing the moon”! It was actually a really fun challenge and I was blown away by how much it had changed from the seed idea! Crazy how we all re-interpreted the same song! Blessings!

thank you for all your listening and commenting. regarding open windows..aint that the truth? on christmas i was playing some songs and one of the guys kept urging me to play something happy. music is here to make people happy, he insisted. i replied that he felt that way because he was peruvian, where music is primarily for dancing, not for listening. but he was drunk and insistent so i put my guitar away and tuned into the inanity of television. personally, i see more sadness in those who play happy songs than the ones who sing of more serious things, especially if those things are universal, and not just personal self-indulgences. i could have never written open windows if i felt like the protagonist. i wouldnt have the strength to do so.

Thank you so much for your comment on Caoineag (what a hard name to memorize!). @katestantonsings comment about the mixing made me go full production. I'm 90% finished (unless somebody wants to add some haunting / mystical vocals)

Thank you for your kind words for my "Cheese" song. BTW, your "Color of Decay" song is heavy and dark in a good way. It sets a mood for the situation. I think we have all been there at some point and relate to this. Nicely done!

i usually spend quite a bit of time on the lyric,. then i sit down with the guitar in my hands, the lyric in front of me, push record and start playing the guitar. when i think i have something, i start singing, laying the melody into wherever ti fits, and after 20 minutes or so am ready to do a complete take. this is usually the end of it unless i made an uncorrectable mistake, or want to change the lyric or get a better idea for some part of the song. in that case, i erase all i have done and start over fresh. and that will be the song i post.

thank you for all you insightful and encouraging comments. i dont know what the chords on the verse of im ready are, as i just made them up as i went along , making shape chords in a descending pattern.

Thanks for explaining! Yeah, I also had some thoughts about the UA Apollo Twin, but I didn't buy it because it has too less outputs. As my MIDI doesn't seem to work properly, I kind of regret it... These render-in-time plugins could be so useful. Well maybe someday when I have a studio, but the bigger version is already soooo pricey...

Thanks a lot for your comment. "Into The Abyss" could go super wild with the right band, so I hope I find somebody. I'm a bit sad and frustrated that I'm not even close to playing such songs on the guitar after 3 years...
