Blink

Liner Notes

It’s about my little girl who turned one a few days ago. I’m on holiday and have a cold which explains the lofi nature of the recording. If you hate this you hate babies.

#ukulele #onetake

Lyrics

Just the other day
You popped out and we said hi
Soon enough
You opened up with those big eyes

Blink one time
And you’re crawling about
Fist of sand
Is headed straight for your mouth

Things I’d like for you to never change:
You laugh hard just like a backed up drain
Can’t believe you just turned one
Those two front teeth smile proud at everyone

Blink one time
You’ll be running your mouth
Sat in wet grass and
Naming all of the clouds

Things I’d like for you to do for me:
Stand big and tall in any company
Can’t believe that you just turned one
Your two front teeth smile proud at everyone

This is very sweet, although I’ll confess the ukulele is to me what handclaps are to you, I’ll allow it on this occasion though because it’s joyful and heartfelt and I’m not made of stone. Very nice

N'awh made me smile. Love how the second line in the verses speed sup a bit. Love the 'things I'd like..' introduction in the chorus. Love the idea of laughing like a backed up drain. Continue.

This actually brought a tear to my eye. I don't know about you but I've become an emotional wreck since I became a parent! Lovely stuff Anya 😊

Sounds as adorable as I'm sure your aka-chan is. Although in the spirit of babies, I was waiting for the song to start vomiting everywhere, but it didn't. As if it was ever in doubt, you've proved your ability to write simple cute tunes as well as the more challenging stuff. I like the little ending stab, like a teaser as if you're going to keep going.

This made me smile. Happy birthday to your little one, it does genuinely just get better and better. You must be very proud too. Charming tune here and a sweet ode to your child

Ha ha!! your linear notes had me in giggles. And its so gorgeous to hear you stripped back and to find those beautiful melodies from the simple uke is very special. Oooo she is a very very lucky girl. Brilliant xxx

What a sweet song for your daughter! Very well done!

Really a sweet song! I like the use of the colons, very uncommon in a song. You have a very heartwarming voice, only enhanced by the ukulele.

Well this is sweet and not like anything I've heard from you before. The joyous melody is giving me slight Paul Simon feels

Lovely! Ukulele sounds great, and it's a super lyric and performance. This is the the kind of thing they'll love to hear in the future, particularly if you make it an annual thing. Until they're teenagers, obviously, then they'll be embarrassed by it. Great to live in the moment at these times, as it passes super quickly. My son turned 25 last birthday, and I have no idea where that time went...

Happy belated birthday to your little one! I'm not generally a huge fan of babies myself but I love this sweet little tribute. 💜

Full disclosure: I totally hate all babies.
Did not hate this though! So cute and belated birthday wishes to your wee one ❤️

Lovely stuff, such a sweet tribute. Two minute song next year, right? And so on in that fashion?

Awww! Short and sweet, but very true. I have some young families in my neighborhood and I see them growing up so fast!

Gorgeous love song, ukulele is the right instrument of choice - time flies with little kids, great idea recording this ditty to capture the moment 🤗
