She Becomes A Woman In My Arms

by @davidtaro · @mctown · @vaughan

Challenge: Refrain (No Chorus)

Liner Notes

I hope this isn't me sticking too hard to my comfort zone 😬 Basically my poundshop Ray Charles schtick. I've definitely applied this sort of #bluesy #jazzy #easylistening vibe to previous @mctown @vaughan lyrics - they often seem to lend themselves to it, so I hope that's OK chaps...

Gonna file this under the weekly Refrain challenge too. The 'With the lights down low' section was marked as a bridge by David and Vaughan, so I reckon it counts!

She's a chauffer when someone needs a lift
She's a shopper when she wants to buy a gift
She's a valet when she has to park the car
But she becomes a woman in my arms

Yeah, she's a nurse anytime a friend is ill
She's an author when she has time to kill
She's an actress who always knows her part
But she becomes a woman in my arms

With the lights down low
She's the woman I know
One who can show me how she feels
She does this.. she does that
Ah, but she forgives the past
And the love that she has for me is real

She's a friend who will never let me down
She's the one that I can't live without
She's the keeper of the secrets in my heart
And she becomes a woman in my arms

With the lights down low
She's the woman I know
One who can show me how she feels
She does this.. she does that
Ah, but she forgives the past
And the love that she has for me is real

She's a friend who will never let me down
She's the one that I can't live without
When we're alone and the room is dark
She becomes a woman in my arms

This is a wonderful tribute to women who play both the role of mother and wife. It is a gift to be both, and this song is a wonderful reminder that we can have it all, and so can the men :) Absolutely gorgeous vibe in the vocals. The music makes it all a beautiful package. I love this song💖

This trio always brings the magic. Beautiful and tender lyrics. DT's arrangement and performance are so smooth on this. I agree with Bill, definitely Ray Charles vibe and influence, but the outcome is pure David Taro. Loved this one lots guys.

What a great lyric. This is written in such a perfect way. All the lines in the verses that shows how much 'she' does and how important she is; all the roles she fills and then it ends in the perfect refrain to both show love and how much more she is than just the other lines dictate. I can't believe how simple the idea is and how perfectly it's implemented lyrically.

Again, the vocal is excellent on this one. But those strings/pads are the tasty part for me. That little lead line buried in the back is also a treat.

You've been very busy this 5090 and all great quality tracks. Love this one too, the chords are really nice and the singing as ever is A1.

Great job gents.

I'm going to show my age, but this reminds me of Leon Russell. I loved his vocals because they were very distinctive. That's why I love your voice, David!! It adds distinction to every song you do. Thanks to you and Davd G. we have a song we can share with everyone. Love this!! 😀 yeah, the verse verse, bridge, verse structure is a popular one.

UGH! An achingly terrific song. Everything about it is wonderful. Vocal, arrangement, music, lyrics. This song has it all going on. Top drawer. Thanks for letting us hear it!

I really like these lyrics—they have that OOH factor; and David’s treatment presents them beautifully. Excellent collab!

definitely some ray charles chords on the piano. but the vocals, while in the ray charles style, are closer to sounding like david than ray. this is good because it is terrible when a singer too successfully emulates another's style. i used to sing georgia on my mind in almost every set, but stopped it entirely after hearing michael boltens note perfect imitation. i realized how stupid it was for me to be singing like ray charles. you dont have to worry about that because you are not imitating ray charles. you use him as a starting point, then go your own way. and its fun when you decide to quote him more closely, just for the cheekiness of it.

Love that chord progression! Got me right away. Your voice lends itself to it so well. That background listening vibe is cool! Ray Charles, yes. Reminds me of my childhood eavesdropping on the parents hi-fi, thinking I was peeking into my adulthood, not realizing everything changes.

Oh, and beautiful lyrics!
