Lyrics

Independence

Independence
What it brings
A special flavor
To the songs we sing

Independence
What's it say
You can be you and
I can be me today

Independence
Keepin' it real
Ain't gonna stop me
Sayin' how I feel

Indepencence
Sure feels great
Break out the fireworks
Everybody celebrate
Celebrate.

This has something of the vibe of David Bowie's "Little Wonder" to it, where the vocal style and backing style come from different places, but work together so well.

Man, this has a unique sound that really does wonderful things in my ears.
The beat makes my mind think one style is coming, but then your vocals and the melody goes in a totally different direction feel-wise.
Oooh, then :28 - those vocal chords! That soft, lush but airy sound is amazing against the hard beat and your high vocals.
You gotta expand this one.
I don't think I've heard anything quite like this one, and its a lovely and super cool sound you got going here.
I also really like all the fx and the mix, too.
Digging this!

I love the sound, very current. I'm a big fan of concise, and you fit it all into one minute. (I know it's a skirmish and has plenty of room to grow.) A universal message, all sides want to be (respectfully) heard.

Short and powerful.

Cool vibe, and a great skirmish write

@gm7
Great song for July4th...cool !

You certainly achieved a unique sound. Very well produced, considering the tight time frame.

I really love the art house feel with the swelling legato chorus as a backdrop for the uptempo rhythms and melody. Love the concise lines. Great message in second stanza.

I don't know enough about the language of music to describe what I'm hearing, but I feel like aliens are about to abduct me while listening to this. It has a very outer space feel to it! Interesting!

I can't decide how I feel about this: those unsettling chords under those bright, happy lyrics makes it sound like you're being sarcastic. If so, I'd like a third verse where you make it clear. If not, maybe some more conventional sounds underneath ... or a third verse to emphasize it.
(Not that it matters what *I* would like :-)

Ooh I love this chord progression. I love how the music feels a little nostalgic and sad, but the lyrics feel more bright and optimistic (to me). Thanks for coming to my skirmish!

This is a great song start. Lots to build and expand on!

Highly effective structure from repeating the title with a range of ideas and reactions. Good interesting sounds.

I like your vocals and the musical vibe and sounds together here. Works well.

Cool sounds and very creative too!

Nice contrast between the music and words. I enjoyed it.

Interesting soundscape. The lyric is positive but the music sounds ominous.
