I'm Jon Horne, an oiled folk/pop hit machine operating out of Edinburgh's fashionable Portobello. Writing songs since 2005 and haven't looked back since, owing to a sore neck.

My latest album is here https://jonhorne.bandcamp.com/album/the-elephant-of-surprise featuring proper guitar not played by me.

If you like the words and hate the tunes, the best of my fiction is in "My Swimming Days (and 12 other stories)" which can be ordered from your local bookshop.

No AI, not on principle but because I'm old and haven't got a ****ing clue.

No ukulele because I may be old but I still have ears.

Hi Jon
How’s your FAWM album shaping up? Have you collected a bunch already? Just wondering where we can hear it after this. Do you post a link somewhere? I’d love to hear the collection.

@bigb
Let me know if you have issues with Dropbox

Hi Jon, sorry I’ve only just seen your message but looks like you’ve got my address now. Looking forward to receiving the tape!

Haha! Your wish is my command. I’ve now slid over the downloadable button. ☺️

Hi, Jon. Thank you so very much for your kind and generous comments about Cameo and Jangle Pop. Hope you enjoy Paper Kites. Their record from last year "At the Roadhouse" is a gem and they made it into an album length video you can find on YouTube where it looks like they're performing the whole thing live at some dive bar in the middle of nowhere.

@bigb
@hornesgiftshop how do you want to swap files? Happy to add you to the dropbox folder.

I changed it to downloadable. :)

Good grief I have catching up to do. You are having an awesome FAWM!
(You can download by right clicking the song graphic and selecting save as.)

Thank you so much for the kind words about my "Grace is Hungry". I appreciate the thought you put into your comments. It means a lot.

I'm so confused!
[avatar]
Is the for real or part of the game?😳
[avatar]
Thank you for the message, that is a real compliment and has made my day, (my rather empty day as I'm no longer doing FAWM :) I'm only logging in about once a week and do intend to some selective listening at some point.

Yes, I thought the way it pronounced 'goatherd' was just perfect for a song that was about creating an awful song, but totally unintentional on the part of the AI!

Song now downloadable. Thanks again!

Thanks for the kind comment and the listen! Synth V is a VSTi that you program by putting in the notes just like any other keyboard-based VSTi, but also specifying the phonemes for each note. The instrument then "sings" what you have programmed using voices derived from professional singers. Very useful for people who have relevant disabilities & for quick demos of songs, aside from being an instrument in its own right. https://dreamtonics.com/synthesizerv/

Thanks for listening 😊😊 especially because it was a german lyrics.

Thanks for explaining! I appreciate it

Thank you for your kind words about “body talk.” Yes, there is definitely hyperbole - I am ok! Adding a little intensity and drama can be cathartic though!

Thanks for taking the time to listen and comment on New Town, no piss take intended, just buildings, people, relationships through the eyes of a Glaswegian living in Edinburgh for 40 odd years.
[avatar]
Thanks for the kind words, Jon. Much appreciated. Btw -I sent you a message at your Bandcamp page.

Thanks for your message I appreciate it. My arm is doing OK fortunately. Hope to post something before the end of February.

Thanks for the lovely feedback on my song! Have made it downloadable 😊

Good to see you here again, looking forward to your unique take on life, the universe, and everything. Maybe we’ll be thrown together in the 4 track digital challenge? Though two Jons on one song might be too much.
[avatar]
Hi Jon! Glad to see you hear as well, looking forward to hearing more of your tasty tunes and wonderful lyrics. 😊

Your Lila is so beautiful!
[avatar]
Yeh, there's a lot of that kind of anger going on... people talking insurrection over here. Maybe that's what gave the song an extra twang?
[avatar]
Have a great FAWM. I always enjoy your wry lyrics.
[avatar]
Thank you for sharing your new recording, it was a pleasure to listen to. I'm sorry I didn't play it loud though but I enjoyed my listening at the loudness I'm comfortable with. It was really a joy to listen to.

Oh that Teddy Thompson song is so **satisfying**. It sounds just like what it says. (Got! I mean, not Not!) Reminds me of everything I love about Marshall Crenshaw too - sounds so good in this sweet old style. And I adore the arcade setting. Maybe I'll write an arcade stalker song this year? Will have to listen to more Teddy :-)

I got your album, and my favorite track right now is Tea for One. There's a lovely bit in the melody just at the start of the chorus, I don't know what it is, but it's poignant. THANKS! wishing you a happy fawming!

Hey! Looks like we're lined up for the collab in 4-track a cappella land!
:-) Happy new year and happy FAWMing :-)
