Recent trends in politics, awful as they are, have made one thing much easier. Instead of trying to empathise with white men confused by a changing world and threatened by a changing population, let's not bother.

Confession: I remembered "We should condemn a little more, understand a little less" as a Thatcher quote about... whoever - coal miners, the Irish, usual Thatcher stuff. Actually it was John Major talking about the boys who murdered Jamie Bulger - so I'm being a bit unfair to Major by using his quote against the Reform/Brexit mob. That said, I mean every word of this.
