One Last Midnight

Imagine having the power to heal or harm with just a thought, to seal the fate of another from a distance. How would you use it?
They called her a witch and locked her in the lighthouse at the edge of the sea. He had sworn to protect her, whispered promises of safety, but he had only been leading her to this moment, to betrayal.
She stands at the rain soaked glass, high above the town. Weak. Heartbroken. Afraid. Alone.
The darkness, it howls out to her. She has fought it for so long, refused to give in, but it never stops calling. It wants revenge.
She tries to resist. She really does. But the pain is just too much.
And so, with the last of her strength, she casts her final spell.
One Last Midnight.

Rosie: First time I heard Andy’s production I was DYING to do a dark, broody collaboration - Andy had an idea of a lighthouse keeper pushing away the darkness and this awesome title - so we got to work and here we are! I LOVE this track, the richness and detail of the production is incredible and it was a super easy collab - thanks Andy!

Andy: Working with Rosie was super awesome. We were on the same wavelength during this whole process to the point where one of us would suggest something and the other would reply with "one step ahead of you" and do the idea but even better then expected. She crushed it with her vocals. Just absolutely crushed it. I'm so happy we got to make this. The end result of this (in my opinion) is friggin awesome. Thanks Rosie!

Lyrics

Verse 1
The dogs are howling at my door
Not sure how long I can push away, push away
My light is weaker than before
And my heart screams, I’ve been betrayed, been betrayed
Verse 2
Broken and crawling on the floor
I try to reignite my energy, energy
The beams don’t even reach the shore
So in the flickering flames, I write the names of who to blame
Pre chorus
One
for the knife in my back
Two
for the bridge you burned to black
Three
for the words left unsaid
Four
for the ghosts in my head
Five
for the love that you gave me
Six
For this broken fantasy
Seven
For the last time I let your words conquer me
I write the names of who to blame
And watch my spells illuminate
I turn my eye towards the shore
And belt my siren song to lore you towards
One last midnight
You’ve one last midnight
One last midnight
You’ve one last midnight

Wow lovely voice and perfect mix with the instrumental. One of the best track i heard this year, congratulations!

I have only one word.... Epic.

So cool that people make stuff like this around here. It's fabulous. I'm really inspired to learn about recording in time for next year.

I was all in from the beginning, but that little chromatic lilt on the word "illuminate" was the detail that sent me. Everything else that has been said—banger, epic, huge, etc— is totally correct.

I have no real clever words. Epic, consuming, compelling, evocative? these words do not touch the impact. Inspiring collab. Kudos to both of you. Cheers.

Chills. I can't remember the last time a song gave me chills. Blown away from beginning to end.

Wow, what a vibrant song! So powerfull and epic. Wonderfull mysterious singing at the start. You bring rythm by singing in rythm in the verses.
Wonderfull (no awfull) story.
@rosie Amazing vocals and indeed, a very good powerfull and detailed music production @aeye .
This song gives me goosbumps really.
Very important to listen to this through good speakers.

Very cool, vocals and the drum go so well, very energetic and has a drive that keeps the story going along with the counting.

Such incredible synergy between this cinematic fantasy soundscape and this empassioned villain origin song. We've built both a faraway world and a character who is more like us than we might think, and the foreground and background come together like they were made for each other.

The mix of electronic and naturalistic elements, both in the music and the voice, is very effective. There were times when I was so lost in the atmosphere that it was only the vocal chop kicking in (beautifully, I might add) that shocked me back to earth and realised I was sitting in an office listening to a piece of music.

'One last midnight' is a truly haunting title hook, in more ways than one. The bridge with the counting of the flickering flames has such a compelling poetic quality. This is brilliant, both of you.

Wow what a start! Then that long lead into those really cool vocals! It’s pretty epic! And gets more so! Kaboom! This is a beauty!

Huge and wonderful, right from the start! Each a master of their musical world, you two have combined for something truly special. It is a BIG adventure in my headphones - loved every second! Holy smokes - that just kicked into 15th gear, right from 2nd. Amazing from top to bottom. You both created something truly special.

Wow, Ooh!, OMG, and all the other things. This really is the banger I was promised! Forget naval battles, this is all out war in space. With bananas, pineapples, and everything else.

Okay, enough of the sarcasm: this is really good. But you knew that already :). Album when? Sign me up!

The vocals on this is gorgeous and the music has both grit and depth. That bass/synth sound is perfect. When's the album coming out? I need to own this.
[avatar]
This is what I imagine music sounds like if you are in the middle of some celestial storm and I quite literally mean in the middle of it. All ethereal and crashing but spaces for peace within the eye. This just feels HUGE (I dont know a better word the sound just sounds so expansive and like you are dwarved by it) The music and vocals go so good together. Bananas? I'll see your bananas and raise you oranges! No scurvy on this ship tonight! Seriously, what a banger!

I don't listen to a whole lot of EDM, so I don't have much to compare it to, but I really like it. I'm gonna go listen to it again.
[avatar]
This is awesome. The energy really captures the feeling of "locked away and about to explode 💣". I can really tell you were both on the same wavelength for this.
[avatar]
This is, simply put -- bananas.

I can't even think of what else to say... like, how the hell do you come up with this kind of soundscape? I felt transported into a sort of storm. And @rosiebans fricken NAILS those vocals! I'm with @sapient in this one - thank God we don't have to compete with this madness.

Great stuff. Really well done.
[avatar]
This is amazing, a perfect match between the two of you! Love that brooding instrumental matched with the soaring vocal.
[avatar]
Wow. This is simply massive. This is one of the best things I've heard this FAWM...absolutely outstanding work!
[avatar]
Wicked! This is powerful and full of complexity. This song reminds me of a those pictures Ive seen of large waves crashing upon a lighthouse.
[avatar]
This is absolutely a banger. Immersive world building. Incredible soundscapes, and definitely ready for the dancefloor.
[avatar]
I was so busy putting this on the Recommendations thread that I forgot to comment. Everything that's been said before and more. I'm not a big EDM guy, but this was so approachable and I could really get into it. Every aspects is amazing.
[avatar]
Folks, this one is absolutely immense. Outstanding.
This doesn't just raise the bar, it boosts it into orbit.
Flawless.
[avatar]
OMFG.... like OMFG+10
I'm gonna need new metaphors for this.
Sod it. I'm not even going to try comparing it to anything else.
You pair of buggers have just done the song of the year.
Thank god FAWM isn't a contest, cos with 9 days left, the rest of us might as well just pack up and go home.
Jesus. This is fekcing nuts.
What a BANGER 😀
