Liner Notes

Bands are ephemeral. I've been in more than a dozen over many years, and although the tenure gets a little longer each time, eventually people move, marry, get a job, have kids...whatever! I still do reunion gigs every year with "DNR". We scattered from Cleveland way back when, but still get together in someone's new hometown - so far we've played in Peoria, Chicago, Boston, Dunedin, Charleston, Kansas City, Frisco, Jackson TN, Cleveland (again), and it's always a good time. But sometimes difficult to get everyone to drop what they're doing for a gig that costs more than we're paid. But...you can't miss this! Consider it a #skirmish draft in a hour. I could probably do better with some time and my old bandmates.
Demo now posted (yeah, 50 minutes late...)

Lyrics

YOU CAN'T MISS THIS
c. 2025 raspberry33

VERSE 1:
It’s been more than a year since we played out
I’ve been missing those nights on stage
We were hot for a while then we cooled off
When J-pop became all the rage

But there’s still room for aging musicians
To get out there and please the crowds
I’ve got an invite to play Peoria
I’m told that they like it LOUD!

CHORUS:
You can miss your brother’s wedding
Miss a couple days at work
Miss your court appearance
Hope the judge isn’t a jerk
But we’re getting the band back together
We’ll be playing a club in the flats
You can’t miss you cannot miss
This scene It's gonna be awesome!

VERSE 2:
You can give me all kinds of excuses
But in the end, you’ll pack up your car
Drive halfway across the country
To play at a third-rate bar

No, it won’t be Madison Garden
No, it won’t be Budokan
But we’ll make a lot of people happy
And gets us out of your mouse-ridden barn
>CHORUS

BRIDGE:
You can’t miss this – you can’t miss
Reassembling the band!

VERSE 3:
Here’s a song for all you musicians
Because you’ve all been there, done that
Broken promises are expectations
That some day we’ll repair the flat

That someday we’ll be discovered
And fed into the money machine
It’s illusion, confusion and bad deals
So, welcome to the scene….
¬ CHORUS and out

I love being in a band, and I love working alone, occasionally those two worlds collide and we take one of my songs to use, but I never push it.

Really identify with this song and being in an amateur band is bloody hard work on many levels. Great job

Good song, well played. Sounds like fun. With all the bands I've been in, never done a reunion gig.

You've got all the images: "Drive halfway across the country/To play at a third-rate bar" and "That some day we'll repair the flat." :)
I'm smiling!

There’s a sort of bright optimism to this that I find refreshing. Great track, too. The elements work nicely together.
