Liner Notes

Suffering from having too many ideas and jumping between them plus not having enough time to create music at the moment - first world problems. But this one was easy to finish within 24 hours. I think it's a good sign if a song is creating itself somehow.

I like #creepy (love-) songs, and this became one "out of nowhere". But I guess it is kind of a creepy but common thing to love the idea of somebody and not the real person.

Lyrics

V1:
Tell me you love me
Tell me you do
Like I would too
If I was sure

V2:
Those pesky feelings
Bring me to bed
To pillow my head
- Ouch.

CHORUS:
The idea of you
Is loving me just the way
I want you to
And the idea of you
Is playing this role so sweet
In my head
Like a marionette

V3:
Tell me you love me
Tell me you do
Like I would too
If I was sure, that is

V4:
I'll make it real' easy
And feed you the words
So just open your mouth
For the consecreted host
- Ah

CHORUS

I love how "heavy" it is, not being actually heavy metal or something.

Ooh, I'm digging the creepy love song vibes, too. Glad I ran across this one. I feel like this would fit right into the soundtrack of the more recent iteration of David Lynch's Twin Peaks. Your vocals are terrific, as usual. I think Verse 3 is my favorite lyrical collection, but they all work well here.

Love the soundscape on this one. The repeated marionette lines were really nice and the whole third and fourth verses. Consecrated host into the ahh sounds really nails the vibe. The instrumental outro solo was tasty.

That obsessively vulnerability or vulnerable obsessive hits from the first syllables you sing. There’s this winding thing you do with your voice that captures the tangle of the ever-shorter marionette strings. Such a picture of the urge to control the narrative and make someone into a puppet. Creepy but familiar and universal too.

The creepy part in this for me is the consecrated host. I have bad associations with the host, having been brought up Catholic 'til I left the church pre-teen, all the while in a dysfunctional family. The dysfunction reached all the way up to God, as far as I could tell. So, given that, and going backward from the last line to the beginning, it does sound creepy. Well done, too.

i dont find the song creepy, but in real life i would be creeped out if anyone sang something like this to me. oh, and the arrangement is definitely creepy (in a good way) reminds me of portishead, who had a creepy video for a song that didnt seem so creepy if you didnt watch the video.
