My goal with acoustic stuff is to make the most beautiful music I can. Mahtowin's magical voice let's me do just that! This song is a good example of our approach: "dreamy, poetic and a bit mysterious," in her words. I love it!

@mahtowin: It was the middle of the night when I wrote this after reading a bit of Mr. Cohen's stuff.

When I heard this otherworldly music by Pennyfeather, I knew where this poem belonged!

Lyrics about floating with music that floats. It's almost hypnotic. Your vocals are really beautiful, and I'm so glad you provided a translation because the lyrics are equally lovely. It has a soft, hazy feel to it, and the ambiguity of what it means really causes you to stop and think. It made me smile.

Well, your acoustic stuff has always been beautiful. You know I've long had an appreciation for the way you pick that thing. Mahtowin takes it to a place of true transcendence, though, I think we can all agree. There are moments where the vocals in each ear make my body feel like it's made out of velvet. I could sit and reflect on the mystery of that last verse all day

This makes me think of how I love blank walls in my own rooms, and also of sitting in the Rothko chapel in Houston staring up at the vast canvases in glowing shades of gray. Hanging the moon on my blank walls is such a beautiful image for all the delights of creating without judging and ranking what emerges.

it's really beautiful how everything came together. The rhythm and tenor of the original lyrics is captivating with the musical track, even if I didn't know what was being said, and I also really like the translation. The harmonica is such a nice touch. All together, the song is lovely and a little lonesome, light and dark at once.
