Liner Notes

This is a one-day project and probably a work in progress, as I still want to add little bits of instrumentation here and there. But as I had a day off today and a lot of work in the next two days, I really wanted to upload and move on.

This is incidentally (because I didn't intend to) heavily inspired by Porcupine Tree's "The moon touches your shoulder", which is one of my favorite songs of this - and still my favorite - band. I really love the feeling of it, created by the way the lyrics are arranged. I even "stole" a line from them, but words are words, they don't belong to somebody.

Lyrics

Out of the fog
A train rattles by
The sound of departure
Brings memories to life

Of coral green fields
One of a kind
I'll never forget this
World in your eyes

Say, how do you cope?
And, how do you get along?

It's a double-blind study
Our words left unsaid
But sometimes I stutter
Your name in my head

And in every corner
A picture awaits
You don't seem to bother
You just cut out my face

Cause that's how you cope
Yeah, that's how you get along

Keep me from
Anger
Keep me from
Sadness
Keep me from feeling it all
Keep me from
Anguish
Keep me from
Bitterness
Keep me from feeling it all

Once again

Really captivating in multiple ways, but the vocal has a particular magic. Wonderful tone and delivery. And that droning windy sound in the background is so atmospheric and essential.

Every word is convincing and the acoustic sounds just great...a mesmerising recording...

You've been successful at creating a moody atmosphere in this song. I like how the arrangement quietly builds under your excellent voice as the song progresses.

This is GORGEOUS. I love the chord progressions and the sad and dreamy vocal line. The music in end section of the song is so heightened, a wonderful effect. I love "It's a double-blind study."

This is lovely really builds nicely, really like the strumming pattern and I feel if you decide to develop it further I reckon I can really nice bass on this to open it a bit more. Beautifully constructed.

"Coral green fields" to describe someone's eyes is so cool. The drifting, fade-out ending really works for this topic and atmosphere. I have nothing else to add that other people didn't already say, but this is good stuff. Your voice is always awesome to listen to.

Beautiful! ❤️ Nothing to add.

Beautiful in a dark way (which is usually my preference). Reminds me a little of Mazzy Star.

I love the ending to this so much; it really builds to a stunning lyrical crescendo, while the music keeps a hazy feel.

Almost totally desolate song with an almost-prayer ending despite the despairing "get along". Good melody and the understated accompaniment is wonderful. The drum/bass come in just right for the emphasis and shift in aim. APPLAUSE!

I love how you create a sound where one can hear fog from which your poetic lyric emerges and ends into. . Wonderfully sung with great pacing and phrasing for this honest feeling song that is so full of emotion. Your delivery is perfect with nuanced expression that creates so much feeling, especially in the keep me from section. You capture that lopsided end to a relationship so well.

more of that magic. The,mood intensity reflective lyrics, it takes a unique soul to notice, capture, rearrange, present a moment for another to experience it and that before any notion of talent/skill/innate or developed comes into play. text book can try to teach you all of that but each part requires magic to work, and multiple magics to work together. It's a gift/blessing, never forget never discount that. Gift. Blessing. Magic. Your voice is magnetic, unique, compelling. . I owe you plane fare to the place in the world where this happened & happens & rehappens.

And in every corner
A picture awaits
You don't seem to bother
You just cut out my face

This hit me hard, as I have done such miserable things like cutting people out of pictures, just a symbol of what is really being done..cutting them out of your life...murdering that part of their life in doing so.

gorgeously written and performed, one of those hypnotic songs that you could keep on replay for hours and never notice the song had ever come to an end.

I love this tune. You are amazing. I've seen porcupine tree in concert just amazing band. There's another band you might want to look into though this is this is more of an 80s band.Siouxsie and the Bashees

Thanks for sharing this, I really liked it. I got some serious Linda Thompson vibes from this as well - very well done!

Ohh the feels I get for a good Porcupine Tree tune. Blissfully dark and moody. A very nice one!
