Illness in the body politic. Opposite Day. Earthquakes. Things are not fine.

Lyrics

You’ve been sick for days
Days turn into weeks
Weeks turn into months or years or longer
Summoning the will
To keep an even keel
Convince yourself that you are getting stronger

But eventually
You can’t keep it in
The reality moves through and almost breaks you
You can’t turn a blind eye
Missing all the signs
If you don’t take a break then soon your body makes you

But oh, that’s a lesson that’s hard to learn
Standing on the antipode of no return

The tremors in the ground
Barely felt until
They started happening stronger and more often
We had a sense
Of what was coming next
But it seemed so harsh we hoped that it would soften

But eventually
The buildings started to fall
The wreckage caught fire and everyone started running
But we plead ignorance
And we beg for forgiveness
And we still maintain that we never saw it coming

But oh, that’s a lesson that’s hard to learn
Standing on the antipode of no return

There's such a great moody vibe through this and love that change at the chorus. Solid lyrics, love "if you don't take a break your body makes you". This beautifully captures a sort of modern bleakness. Excellent work all around

I feel so seen by those first two verses, 'cos that's basically where my life is at...

+1 on the Portishead feel. Crushing the eq on the vocal in the verses really lets the choruses and the bridge open up. Gorgeous song.

Love the eerie insistent groove of this song. The relief of the harmonies is perfect. The darkness and sense of doom is so poignant. Love it.

This describes the current moment so well. "We still maintain we never saw it coming" - that same old, old story...I love the layers of vocals, especially the final high "ooh..." at the end. The song is haunting and just so true.

wow a real lofi Portishead feel with this one, so much power int he lyrics and the production. I hate to call this a minimalistic production, has its so many complex layers but feel minimalistic.

really loved this one, thanks for sharing.
