Been feeling this idea a lot lately, thank you for the prompt @corinnecurcio!
Lyrics
Take a breath
Put down the phone
Let it rest
These burdens are
Not yours alone
Not Everest
An ever-present call into the din
A battle for attention that no one will win
Headlines bait
Keep you clicking
Outrage sells
The count is down
The clock is ticking
Here come the bells
Turn off the noise, let chaos pass you by
Lay in the grass and look up at the sky
Turn off the noise, go outside and play
This world was never built for us anyway

Ahhh I love this so much!!! So gentle and sweet. I love the limited range and rhythm of the vocal melody.

Ah, soothing which is perfect for the theme. Outrage sells for sure. Have to ignore it.

Oh, I could listen to your voice all day long... "A battle for attention that no one will win" "Turn off the noise, let chaos pass you by/Lay in the grass and look up at the sky" Those last two couplets were worth the price of admission all by themselves. Brilliant work. ❤️❤️❤️

I am so glad there other people out there who recognize that headline bait gets you clicking and outrage sells. And how that dynamic has poisoned the political process in the US, and apparently a lot of other places. Nice meditative song, wonderfully sung and played. Let's hope more people hear this and absorb the wisdom.

Wow, this is great and so much truth in a few phrases. Needed this.

I want to hear the last lines of this a second time, to allow for emotional processing. Nice tune, Carley.

this is really well done-- distilled and refined wisdom. simple and direct- and the music is a great fit for the lyric too.

A lovely take on the prompt - there's not enough laying in the grass looking at the sky. The vocal is superb and the ukulele (?) accompaniment is so deftly and delicately done. The result is so good. Really nice skirmishing!

A beautiful, gentle take... this is great. Some great lines here (the Everest one in particular) and I love the pause before the last line. Rather devastating, actually. Very well done!

A tune to tune out with, enjoyable! "Battle for attention," and "outrage sells" are words that stood out for me. Time to go out and play instead.

Great take and some great lines. I really like "not Everest" and the refrain.
Outrage sells, and it seems they are trying to make up profit by selling in volume.

Nice, theres a lot of depth in that word choice, wonderfully performed. Well done.

I like “battle for attention” as an identifying phrase. This then becomes a classic call to lay down the swords. Nice gentle harmonious way of stating it.

Carley. I'm really enjoying your take on the skirmish. Outrage sells indeed! Lovely melody on "Turn off the noise, go outside and play." well done!
