For The Beauty Of A Boy

by @rosiebans

Liner Notes

FAWM FAM, these are the first new songs I have written since lockdown, THANK YOU FAWM for giving me this. Thank you for all your amazing comments and encouragement.

OKay the song: I moved from Glasgow, Scotland to Valencia, Spain in the winter of 2020. Unplanned, last minute, just took a chance on a new adventure.

But I deeply love my home city - except the weather - and I had an amazing music career there, loads of pals, a real crew, a music scene and I felt like I BELONGED in Glasgow.

And after two years living in Spain I was struggling to find where I fit in. I stopped doing music entirely. I was really unhappy, and to be honest I thought I'd destroyed my whole life just for some sunshine...

Until I met my partner.

He opened up a whole new life for me: language, culture, family, friends, music, love. And now I can truly say I LOVE my home here in Valencia. And that's the song. The End.

Hope you enjoy ♥️

Lyrics

VERSE 1
Blissful picnics by the sea
And your river has grew
into all colours of green
What do you think of me?
Old V

VERSE 2
Middle decade counting three
I’m growing into
someone I’d never thought I’d be
You’re rubbing off
I think I’ll stay here

PRE CH
Valencia, you got me.

CHORUS
Traded a life that I destroyed
You got me
But I’ve never been quite so satiated
You got me
With the beauty of a boy
You got me
Don’t believe how long I’ve waited
For the beauty of
For the beauty of a
For the beauty of a boy, boy, boy, boy

VERSE 3
Homeless and searching for a scene
Looking for a place
To sink my teeth into being
Then you swipe on me, oh dear
(I think that we have something here)

VERSE 4
So brand new, so much still to see
Vocabulary for days
But still the words escape me
You the only place, I wanna be

PRE CH
Valencia, you got me.

CHORUS

Oh, damn, this is really pretty and lovely and a bit mushy AND you can dance to it!
Top skills. This is damn good.

Such a joyous song. Love the layers of vocals. Great production.

That's amazing that FAWM has got you back writing after the pandemic.. and we're all richer for it! And hey you live in Valencia, niiiiice. @judypie and I went there a couple of summers ago and it was beautiful but also VERY WARM. This is so inventive... it's so poppy, yet has these alternative little ideas popping out here and there. The title harmonies are such an earworm.

lovely gentle self-disclosure. Really nicely produced and arranged song. Great listen - love the vocal changes.

Hearing the inspiration behind your song gives so much enjoyable context. I'm so glad that you are making music and that things seem happier for you! This is a great song, reminds me of Ingrid Michaelson. Your voice is layered perfectly in this song and incredibly strong. Loved this one! 🐸

Hello ‘fawmling’ by the way ;-)))
[avatar]
Wow, what a chorus, what lyrics, the beauty of a boy! (I am very much understanding what you mean these days, and that you waited for so long 😆 ;-)) There are different meanings actualy in these lyrics.
Very well sung. Catchy and uplifting.
Interesting musical structures and flows.
Wow, last but not least, nice electrical piano (?) lick near the end 😍

Great groove and flow to the tune; catchy as heck. Nice vocal arrangement. I would not change the station if this came on the radio!
[avatar]
Great work. I'm going to listen to this again through some monitors to give your work the respect it deserves. Laptops not ideal. Nothing like real life to give inspiration for the lyric.

There's joy shining through this from beginning to end. Lovely happy story, and well worth immortalising in song!
Great groove too, and I just love your layered vocals. Cracking tune.

Your voice shines in this! I love how the production layers build such a full, dynamic sound—it really carries the energy of the song. Such a vibrant and heartfelt tribute!

Hi Rosie. I Love this - of course I do - your songs are always wonderful. It's pretty much faultless IMHO - apart from one wee tiny thing - the linguistic pedant in me cringes at 'has grew' - 'has grown' or 'grew' would still my troubled mind - lol. It's fabulous to see you creating your own quality songs again after such a long break - please give us more. :-)

Beautiful voice and delivery, wow.... it reminds me in a great way of early Everything But The Girl, one of my faves forever...
way to go, I'd love to hear more.
Welcome to the wonderful of FAWM.

Tremendous piece of layer-cake pop. Great hook with the title. So much going on here, and all of it adding something. I love how it changes all the time even as it's repeating.

Lovely - it's a super poppy backing track. Fun fact: my daughter, who gets married in the middle of FAWM, got engaged in Valencia! Great harmonies too!

Cracking song. So pleased you are back writing. Too big a talent to walk away.
[avatar]
So melodic, flows so well, harmonies are great. Super change up. Really happening sound. Cool listen

This is so awesome that FAWM has spurred you back into creativity! It's such a great place to absorb all the energy and just really create. Great sound choices here and again some heartfelt lyrics. This kinda falls into those slice of life songs that I really like that talk about some aspect of where the composer is. These all sound great.

Loved the drop at the chorus. Great vocals, production, everything. Tremendous. I'm dancing!

This is gorgeous! You have a beautiful voice. I love the harmonies and the flow of the melodic timing too!
