Wenzel At The Wheel (Don't You Run Into My Truck) [FT]

Liner Notes

All my tales are true, for a given value of true, and this is no exception and we do not repeat not live a surreal life. Anyway, it's NOLA October 2024, before Global Warming turned it into a snow-laden glacier-in-the-making. And no, there was no intention to queue for hours at the Cafe du Monde for an inferior small coffee. The Blue Crab was great. Best view too. "Poncho Train"--the kind Texan lady who directed us to the area because of the ambience had us all, South Ozzers and Minnies alike confused with items of clothing and transportation options rather than bodies of water.

Instruments in order of appearance: Cigarbox guitar GDG, Cimar lawsuit bass, tam, sticks, Yamaha Pacfica

New Orleans, in a Kia, leaving downtown for a meal,
Cruising the French Quarter, Wenzel at the wheel.,
Me and mine in the back seat, seeing the sights,
Wenzel's lady in the front, pix left and right,
But squeezing through a bunch of tourists out for a bender,
There's this guy on a truck, jamming on his Fender.

[and he sings]
"Man oh man, don't you run into my truck (x2)
Man oh man, don't you run into my truck
I'm innocent I tell ya, I'm just jammin' to make a buck"

Wenzel slides past, doesn't scratch or hurt the guitar,
And we cruise more of the Quarter, bouncing bar to bar.
But Wenzel's using Google Maps to get around,
So we got lost real soon, turned a corner, and we found...
Another buncha tourists out on a bender
And this guy on a truck, jamming on his Fender.

[and he sings]
"Man oh man, don't you run into my truck (x2)
Man oh man, don't you run into my truck
I'm innocent I tell ya, I'm just jammin' to make a buck"

Well this goes on repeat as we drive around, you see,
Until we reach the point of escape velocity,
And flee from the French Quarter, north to Poncho Train
And hit the Blue Crab for some beer to soften all the pain
But round and round it goes, like our brains' caught in a blender
The echo of that truck guy, jamming on his Fender:

[and he sings]
"Man oh man, don't you run into my truck (x2)
Man oh man, don't you run into my truck
I'm innocent I tell ya, I'm just jammin' to make a buck"

Very funny lyrics. Enjoyment to hear. We need more humor in this world 😄
Nice layers further in the song.

I'm digging the vibes of this track!! Casual, bluesy and very truck protective :P

Beautiful bluesy song, Tim. I forgot you play guitar as well. Beautiful vocals and playing. Amazing to listen to.

Man oh man, this is great! This feels like a street jam.

You've got the blues, Tim! I love the arrangement and the way you sing this. And, of course, the story!

Love the bluesy guitar! Bet you had a great time in NOLA!

This is very much a southwest New Orleans kind of Jam. Very, very southwest. Or is it southeast?

Love this--my two oldest sons went to college at Tulane in New Orleans, so I've been there a bunch. You've definitely got the "vibe" down for this one! ❤️

this is some basic, wheels to the road, rock and roll. love the guitars and the way the story cruises along to the rhythms. the chorus is dyed in the history of the road warrior's road and the lyrics from real life that become surreal in an unreal world. this is a new orleans that could have plopped down right in the middle of van nuys boulevard in the san fernando valley.
