Liner Notes

Cindy Prince writes lyrics that resonate with lots of people including me. I feel lucky (again!) that Cindy entrusted "Let the Light Return" to me.

For those who detect chords, this song has 6 chords in the first line with an extra chord in the bridge.

Lyrics

I try to focus on birds in the sky
I've stopped most of my asking why
Still at times I can't help but cry
Let the light return

I don't watch the news anymore
Instead I walk out through my door
Yet it still hurts me to my core
Let the light return

The dark can be beautiful, the stars come out
But the dark of humanity can burn
We need the light more than ever now
When will we ever learn
Let the light return

Let the feminine rise
Can't we open our eyes
Let the feminine rise
Open our eyes

I'm watching nature for wonderful clues
So I don't get stuck in my deepest blues
I watch my loved ones so I don't ignite a fuse
Let the light return

The dark can be beautiful, the stars come out
But the dark of humanity can burn
We need the light more than ever now
When will we ever learn
Let the light return

May this musical message reach everyone who needs light right now, and everyone - pretty much the same people- who can help it return if they don’t give up hope.

Beautiful song and sentiment. Light and kind. Beautiful lyrics and music with interesting and tasteful instrumentation. Very enjoyable singing and playing 🎵 ❤️✨️

I love songs about light - and this one is really lovely. Beautiful uplifting lyrics by Cindy - and I like all the alternatives she suggests to combat the darkness. It all totally resonates with me. The light tone you used in song suits the lyrics so well. Really pretty accompaniment and melody/vocals Paul. Great collab!

Wonderful collaboration, you two! Lyrically, it's such a timely sentiment for those of us distressed with political shenanigans and such...acknowledging the trials but being hopeful and trying to appreciate the good ("loved ones) to ward off the darkness. Excellent supporting music too...great job, Paul!

Aw cindy i adore these lyrics and am very much feeling into these lyrical topics at the moment so can't wait to do a little collab this year. Musically i love the lightness and melodic flow of the song, and the vocal power really hits deep, and the introduction of the strings in the feminine rise part is stunning

i loved cindy's lyric, and now i love the song even more, especially the way paul takes the edge off a difficult situation with optimistic music, then shifts to a more insistent and demanding delivery for the "let the feminine rise" section.

The lyrics state pretty well how I'm feeling whenever I open a newspaper (I'm avoiding internet and TV). Good delivery and I like the development in "Let the feminine rise"

Oh wow, I love the lyrics and the performance. This voice reminds me so much of parts of Pete Seeger's last album. Truly wholesome. I'll listen to this again and again.

Also, a lyrically similar song that you both may enjoy is "There Will Be a Light" by the "Blind Boys of Alabama"
