Nancy: When I found the @musicsongwriter piano piece called I Don't Like Renovation, I was transported back to a summer when I was nine . We'd moved into an old house in a new state, and as the renovations went on, it turned out just about everything needed to be replaced. I had fun writing a lyric and singing a song. As I was posting the lyric, I had a thought that maybe an extension of the song would be to talk more about the singer not wanting to change herself as well as her house. Guess I'll just embrace the wisdom of knowing when to stop, and leave any possible renovations for some fuzzy future

Lyrics

I can't stand renovation
Can’t understand this situation
I won’t fund another excavation
I’m fine and so is my foundation

Cause I can’t stand renovation
Can't stand this situation
I’m fine, so is my foundation

Hammers in my head
All these hammers on the walls
Rip it down to studs
When the plaster falls
Hammers in my head
All these ammers in the hall
That’s all
That’s all

Your marble countertops sounded so good
Til they took a little longer than you promised they would
You're still not finished but look at me, I’m done

Cause I can't stand renovation
And I can’t understand this situation
I won’t fund another excavation
I’m fine, so is my foundation

It’s been two years and fifteen weeks
Got all new pipes, but they all got leakes
It’s been two years now and sixteen weeks
It’s too long. So long

Cause I can't stand renovation
Can’t stand this situation
I won’t fund another excavation
I’m fine, so is my foundation

I can’t take this anymore
I can’t refinish one more floor
I need you out
I need to lock this door
Get out
Get out

Electricians, Carpenters and More
Sub ontractors galore
I can’t take this anymore
Get out
Get out

Cause I can't stand renovation
And I can’t under stand this situation
I don’t want another excavation
I’m fine and so is my foundation

(Big cracking noise….)

Brilliant interpretation of Nadia's piano piece.
And I am with you on the renovation front. I would love to buy an abandoned cottage in Ireland as a summer home to escape the climate crisis driven hot summers here in Catalunya, but I couldn't face the renovations, either!

Ha, this is brilliant stuff. You've really captured the sense of pent up frustration and also theatricality in Nadia's original music. The vocal fits the piano part so well, it's like they were written simultaneously. Superb lines throughout - 'Got all new pipes, but they all still leak' made me laugh out loud. And what an ending, literally bringing the house down...
