Liner Notes

This sees me taking another stab at the #hitem challenge, because writing fast #progrock stuff in 5/4 is ridiculously good fun (particularly when you realise you're going to have to play a bass line on the Jaydee to fit in with the synth line you played...) Lots of hardware and software synths involved including NI's "Emotive Strings" and "Action Strings" and Spitfire's "Abbey Road ONE" orchestral library.

Pleased with this one.

I can see why you engaged this challenge again: Fast 5/4 time has a different feel to it than the slower stuff (I might want to try this) but it also took me a while to find the pulse of the song. I was somehow surprised by the dark feel at about 2:30. In any case, effective drums throughout and nice production too. Inspiring!

Wonderful high energy. I especially like the part at 1:19. Reminds me of 70's jazz/rock fusion which I love. The climbing horns at 2:05 into the funk at 2:29 is cool. Then the harmony guitars. Lots of good stuff. Fine work.

I have never really experimented with abnormal time signatures. Bet it is confusing. Like what I hear. Its unsettling great TV music I think

Yeah, this is great fun 😁 It's catchy for sure! It remindns me a lot of a Winnipeg Band called Mahogany Frog (https://mahoganyfrog.bandcamp.com/music). You'd probably really like them. I could see this as the theme song for a late 80's or early 90's crime drama - or maybe one produced now but set in that time period. Awesome as always, Chris!

See You In The Shadows…
