Liner Notes

How many times have you wanted to go back to an earlier time and patch up something that went wrong? Well, here's your song with lyrics by Simon Wright.

The lyrics were attractive enough that @tcelliott also created his interpretation, so give his a listen, too.

Lyrics

Build me a time machine
Won't you build me a time machine
So I can go back in time
And make everything fine, so fine, so fine

I'd go back and take better care of my health
I'd go back and invest to build my wealth
I'd go back and take my foot from my mouth
Back to the moment with you when things went south

Build me a time machine
Won't you build me a time machine
So I can go back in time
And make everything fine, so fine, so fine

I'd go back and be wiser at placing bets
I'd go back and gladly pay off my friends debts
I'd go back and find the right words to say
The ones that might have convinced you to stay.

Build me a time machine
Won't you build me a time machine
So I can go back in time
And make everything fine, so fine, so fine

Life seems a blur
It's going too fast
So much is gone
There's not much to last
Except my love for you

Build me a time machine
Won't you build me a time machine
So I can go back in time
And make everything fine, so fine, so fine

really reflective lyrics and all to relocatable. Paul's bouncing approach to the melody is catchy. Well done to both of you!

I could have sworn that I already Reviewed a song with this title, but I looked over at @lyricslinger 's "site" and see a couple other versions but apparently me not having weighed in.

So let me take this opportunity to say: Nice song!!! Great collaboration!! ❤️

If only, if only ... we've all thought about having a chance to redo something(s) in the past, simple relatable lyrics, expressed in a light-hearted music style that doesn't let it get maudlin. Nice collab!

Super clever lyrics and a letter perfect musical treatment, complete with a sort of approach on the vocal (sort of wryly amused at the concept but also a tiny bit wistful) that could not be handled one iota better. Fabulous bridge lyrics also and just the right choice on the melodic swerve there. Terrific collaboration, you guys. Applause!

I like the easy, happy go lucky musical interpretation, Sounds great.

Wonderful sentiment in these lyrics. I really like this musical treatment - it is upbeat and light, and moves along nicely, but yet still manages to convey the wistful tone of the lyrics. Your vocals are so beautifully emotive - especially in the chorus and the bridge. I especially like how you treated the long line of the chorus. This is a great collab and a very memorable song.

This is great. I went back and looked and I swear I hadn't noticed that you had said you were doing a version. I apologize if I stepped on toes.

I do like this a lot. The warbly organ is great, the melody so lovely. This is a fun take but it still has that little bit of weight that such ponderings invariably induce.
