Faded Photographs

Skirmish: Slightly Askew (@atornberg)

Liner Notes

Thank you for the prompt!

I spoke to AI and I had a lot of sujestions regarding the titles. I've settled on "Faded Photographs". This title, according to AI, can resonate well with the idea of being "Slightly Askew." It evokes an image of nostalgia mixed with imperfection, symbolizing those moments or experiences that are cherished but never fully realized. Life often feels like a series of faded photographs, each moment beautifully imperfect, standing just slightly askew from our lofty expectations. The corners of happiness often tangle with sorrow, the highlights fade into shadows, leaving us with memories that feel almost complete but never quite whole. It’s the cherished relationship that ended too soon, the passion that flickered but never ignited fully, or the dream that shimmered tantalizingly close yet remained out of reach." More AI ideas on this title you can read on my Bandcamp posting https://nadiacripps.bandcamp.com/track/faded-photographs They didn't fit in here :)

My music is open to collaborations. Please let me know if you are interested.

@robcrusade and @cindyrella I'd be delighted to collaborate with you. I'm happy to hear your suggestions. I'll send my message and we can communicate via email. Thank you both.

I can hear several directions this can go that the melody could easily support. What style were you envisioning the surrounding instruments sound like?

Asking for a friend.

Who is me, who would like to add stuff.

@cindyrella Agreed. Could be a VG track

You can guess why I was attracted to your title, Nadia. I spent over twenty years in the photo business. The last ten years I've been working on genealogy. The most valuable thing I can find is a photograph, faded or not, of a relative who, until that moment, was just a name on the page. I think it's true that photographs find their true value years, perhaps decades, after they've come out of the camera.

Beyond my personal history of photographs, I can truly say that your music has captured the nostalgic feel that the title suggests. Beautiful melody well presented.

I love the liner notes for this one and the direction you took the music - it feels like a slow bittersweet journey looking through old faded photographs

You need to write an album called nostalgia, which has accompanying videos with old photos for this one, and cows who have emotions for that piece. Even better, old sepia toned photographs of cows who have emotions. :)

Ah, this song (and the one @billwhite51 posted) have reminded me of what a nostalgic mood I've been in of late (well, actually--always). Probably part of the "growing old" process. Collected a lot of memories--and faded photographs--and they DO lend themselves to song inspiration, don't they. Another winner, Nadia! ❤️

Yes, I sense a real feeling of nostalgia in that melody. While the somewhat staccato rhythm reflects the brain grasping at the memories the photos rake up.

This genuinely transported me, I definitely felt a sense of faded photographs passing before my mind’s eye - absolutely love your liner note too! That electric piano sound is gorgeous, particularly in the bass register. So warm. Lovely piece, Nadia!

I’m crazy about that chord you chose around 1:11, so unexpected yet completely natural musical choice. Your synth and the way you are playing it are most enjoyable.

Different and I think this could be in a video game or movie. It sounds adventurous!
