This Too Shall Pass

Liner Notes

Life is complex. Therapist number 1 didn't work out. I felt like I was training her instead of getting help. I may attempt a tune or may not. If you hear a melody in your head let me know. #idiom #lyricsonly #meta

Lyrics

If I knew what I needed I’d get it myself
I wouldn’t need to talk here with you
You call me insightful with your books on the shelf
You lack experience, it’s true

I hate the phrase “This too shall pass”
Do me a favor, save that for gas
I need more tools for what I’m going through
Instead of my whiskey or two

I have a deep faith; I’m emotionally strong
But my head has become a bad place
The universe seems to be spinning all wrong
My life feels too hard to face

Chorus

Finding a therapist is taking too long
Good ones “aren’t taking new clients now”
So I’ll grab my notebook and write out a song
Hoping one’s found soon somehow

Chorus

Good luck finding The Right One. Loved these lyrics. I'm a retired divorce lawyer and trying SO HARD to stop with the uninvited "giving advice all the time" that I'm constantly guilty of. Just listen, Jerry--just listen. And I DID "listen to" and enjoyed your lyrics. ❤️

Music is so therapeutic - and writing. These days I prefer music.

This is entirely relatable. I like the open phrase " If I knew what I needed I’d get it myself" A great line. Finding a way to deal is tough and I'm writing songs all the time to cope with the world around me. Songwriting is good for sorting issues. Keep at it... this too shall...oh forget it.
