Liner Notes

@mctown sent me these wonderfully sunshiny lyrics and I had the great pleasure of writing music for them. I wanted to aim for a sort of laidback, easy-going vibe with this one, and definitely had a lot of fun with it. Enjoy! :)

Lyrics

Come On, Sunshine David L Graham mctownmusic@gmail.com

Come on, sunshine..come on, sunshine
You’ve always been a friend of mine
Come on sunshine..come on sunshine
Let’s take a walk down the road of life

You’ve seen my worries and my best
Been there for me with my every test
Oh, I know how I’ve been so very blest
To run round this world as your guest

Come on, sunshine..come on, sunshine
You’ve always been a friend of mine
Come on sunshine..come on sunshine
Let’s take a walk down the road of life

Sure you give that moon a look or two
And show the stars what they must do
But I know from that beginning hue
It’s always been me and you… me and you

Come on, sunshine..come on, sunshine
You’ve always been a friend of mine
Come on sunshine..come on sunshine
Let’s take a walk down the road of life

Yes, you’re the one, my sunny sun
Bright and golden
Always holding
To your path
In that true blue sky
Oh, my sunny sun
You’re the one
My sunny, sunny sun

That chorus is infectious as the plague, and the words are so singlemindedly upbeat that they drag me up, despite my would-be cynical heart. The fake horns really work in this context - they are almost too much, but because everything is too much in the right proportions it ends up sounding really cohesive and wonderful.

Absolutely love the performance, melody, chunky guitar with those momentary diversions that make you sit up and take notice.

That hard right panned "me and you!" was a winner too!

Oooh, love that first note!
This has a great feel to the vocal melody.
LOVE the way you sing that 'come on, sunshine'.
Nice contrast with the crunchy guitar and your crystal clear voice.
That sax is a soft spot for me! love the fall at 1:41 with the harmony!
Oh yeah this just feels great to listen to.
Super feel-good sunny lyrics from @mctown, too. that chorus is so sing-along-able.
This was a joy to listen to

This is an uplifting upbeat song. And it's sunny and hot here so it's so apropos .

Cola, your joyous and pure vocals are such an uplifting experience any time, and they feel custom-made for this song. The music suits the lyric perfectly. David, your uplifting lyrics really work, without being cloying, which is quite a trick. Great collab!

I love this! So uplifting and catchy. Great vocals and I like the distorted guitar together with the trumpets and everything. Could listen to this on and on really.

Ah, cola--I think I "discovered" you last 50/90. VERY impressed with your vocals. Really a wonderfully written song here--McTown's lyrics are always terrific! Great collaboration! ❤️

It's such a celebratory song. So upbeat and happy. I like the perspective of talking to the sun as a close friend. Fun music jumps out at you from the get go and the inviting first line. Well done!

Oh this is wonderful! Your voice and the melody in the chorus have such a classic feel to them, and the pairing with the distorted guitars is so perfect. These lyrics are great too, it all flows really naturally!

Thanks, Cola... good job. Nice to work with you.

Brought an immediate smile with the opening words and surprisingly high soprano of the 'come on'. Grabs you immediately and pulls you in - lyrics nice and upbeat too

YES!! You nailed it! Great job and enjoyable. :)

this reminds me of up up and away and other songs by the 5th Dimension. It really stands out among the gloom of what so many of us are writing these days. you handle those high notes so well, i feel im floating away.
