Methodical Madness (comments first challenge)

by @aeye

Liner Notes

This song is for the #commentsfirst challenge. It will be written based on the first few comments it receives. Please leave a comment below!

Constraints: I don’t sing so no comments about vocals. Otherwise (and I’m gonna regret this) go nuts.

Challenge complete!!
I managed to work in all of the comments to some degree on this one.
@andygetch and @jtsteam start together at the beginning with theremin and glockenspiel and end the song

@bijou requested an eerie but comforting whistle (which is a highly processed train whistle at 30 seconds) which also ends the song

@metalfoot requested a "reversed guitar solo" which is at 1:36 ( recorded it, bounced it and then reversed it)

@burr requested a downward keychange - 2:08

@tcelliott requested a bass solo (which sadly might be the weakest part of this to try and make it fit with the feel of the song. SORRY though it also goes on the longest out of all the parts.) -2:24

Really like the variety in here, some great atmospheres and the drums go well, all the things you added fit in naturally in here.

Love it!

All those elements fit together smoothly! I could picture this in a cyberpunk action movie. The reversed guitar solo was my favorite part.

This is great! I've been curious how the "Comments First" Challenge would work in practice - I love how you worked all those suggestions into a really fun piece of music.

I love this! Such a fun challenge and you did amazing with the constraints here. I love the whistle - you really matched the spooky yet comforting vibe!!

This was great, so cool! Huge song that took me a few listens to fully absorb it.

nice! i love these challenges and how they force you to put pieces together like a puzzle. the way you integrated all the prompts was so seamless i don't think i would have particularly picked any of them out without being told... bravo!

This comment was made after the fact, but - this really does work astonishingly well. And it ticks the "dark and gritty" check box with real style. The progression calls to mind Rob Dougan's "Furious Angels" in places (ah, remember the days when "The Matrix" was just a single, cool movie?) The guitar solo is wild; it really fits the mood perfectly. Fab work - I'm inspired to dig out my Theremin now!

woah. those recurring downward key changes really do feel like a descent into madness... 😳

The reverse guitar solo was AWESOME. Didn't realize you could do that with Kontact.

That bass solo/breakdown is crazy good. So dark and gritty.

I never realised how well a glockenspiel and theremin would fit together, nice one!

I love the whistle sounds! Creepy but comforting at the same time!

Hooray for the theremin sounds that set the scene!
