Storm Before the Calm

Challenge: Idiom

Liner Notes

Hello everyone! First 50/90 song!

It has been a busy day, but I was determined to write a song quickly before I went to bed, so here is what I came up with! It is far from perfect, but overall I'm pleased with it. Just a rough work tape but happy that I got a song in on day 1! đŸ’ȘđŸ»

Thank you for listening!

Lyrics

Chaos all around
Deafened by the sound
All these voices echo in my mind
Where’d it even start?
Somewhere near my heart
All my senses never linger far behind

Feel them spinning
 feel me sinking
.

In this storm before the calm
Trying hard to break me, but somehow I’m holding on
The storm before the calm
Won’t let it break me, won’t let it take me down

Three o’clock again
Patience wearing thin
Utter madness why I wake up every night
No more biding time
Leave it all behind
All I gotta do is step into the light

Feel me shifting
 feel it lifting

It was the storm before the calm
It tried hard to break me, but somehow I’m holding on
The storm before the calm
Won’t let it break me, won’t let it take me down

It tried hard to break me, but somehow I’m holding on
The storm before the calm
Won’t let it break me, won’t let it take me down

Love it. The verses feel tense but the chorus feels like a release and emphasises the calm element in your lyric..the longer vocal notes in the chorus vs the short stubby vocal notes in the verse. Great first song

Hi, Tara, Love your country sound, and I think you have a voice that would work in so many different genres! Lucky you!

My first comment of 50/90!

Love the lyrics and such a soulful delivery. Like how you flipped the cliche, and it really works for the storyline. Great start!

Put some money in the juke box and play me a Tara Henton song. I don't think you've ever written a bad song, Tara, and this is another one that sounds great. Keep'em coming!
