Liner Notes

#skirmish by @robinlef prompting to write about sharp objects. This could be instructions to the grandkids, or perhaps the DOGE boys. Featuring scissors, a screwdriver hitting a C-clamp, a portable drill and drill bits in a box - all of which live on the workbench in my studio.

Lyrics

DON'T RUN WITH SCISSORS
(c) 2025 raspberry33
VERSE 1:
Mama always said Don’t Run With Scissors
Mama always said Don’t Run With Scissors
Watch out for rocks and paper, too
Run, but not holding Scissors

VERSE 2:
Dad said I will teach you ‘bout tools
Everything’s a danger in the hands of fools
Use common sense, and follow the rules
Don’t run with Scissors – and don’t poke your eyes out

CHORUS:
If you don’t know how it’s assembled
Don’t go sticking spanners in the works
Before you stick your fingers
Give some thought to how you might get hurt

VERSE 3:
If you see a third rail, do not touch it
There’s voltage there to stop your heart
Measure twice, cut once usually does it
Don’t run with scissors – be smart

CHORUS

REPEAT 1st VERSE and stay out of the emergency ward

Fantastic sampled sounds and a really great take on the prompt! I love that your song is essentially itself "running with scissors" by playing with (misusing? never!) tools.

great production. that screw driver idea, great. i like the piano lick in the end. your voice is relaximg here, and the song itself sounds great, enjoyed listening. catchy melody.

Love the sound effects! I really like the line "everything's a danger in the hands of fools" (I was thinking of that in relationship to your comment about the DOGE boys!). Cool song!

Omg I love that you actually used sharp objects to make this! You have made my day. "Watch out for rocks and poster, too" hahaha. Love the piano and the tool percussion. This is freaking great!

I love the tools in the background! Great response to the prompt and yes, it’s also good advice to people in power.

Amusing, but also instructive take on the prompt. I like the use of sampled machinery. Your Dad sounds like mine was... "Tools are not toys!"

That's gotta be good advice right from the start and I love your delivery on this. Getting quite a Frank Zappa vibe from this, and I love that accompaniment. Really enjoyed this!
