My friend @kebley and I got together for 2 hours this afternoon and co-wrote this song from a starter I had in my back pocket. Here's our iPhone voice memo recording of where we landed. I'm doing vox/keys and Kyle's on vox/guitar.

Lyrics

Walk through my house I’ll let you in
Where are the chairs collecting dust
Where isn’t sunlight shining in
Where are the hinges starting to rust

Finally ready to begin

Open me up and come see what’s inside
I’m trusting your love and I don’t want to hide
You hold the key to unlock every door
I’m trusting your love and I don’t want to hide anymore

Which rooms have I kept locked up tight
Thinking they won’t get any use
Almost forgot that they were there
How much I loved them in my youth

Been too long inside my head
Now I’m letting go instead

Open me up and come see what’s inside
I’m trusting your love and I don’t want to hide
You hold the key to unlock every door
I’m trusting your love and I don’t want to hide anymore

This is so moving and beautiful. Hannah's vocals are always gorgeous, and then wow, you guys sound amazing together. I just sat back and enjoyed the listen. What an accomplishment in 2 hours of time!

Totally jealous of the IRL writing session, I should do that more (though my band mate is popping over to record some bass for me sooooon). There's a lovely patient feel to this, really allows the listener to be contemplative. The chorus is especially beautiful as @hbusse moves into a higher register. @kebley strumming gives it a nice rhythmic centre, and the harmonies under the lead work perfectly - reminds me a bit of Red-era Taylor Swift.

instantly felt the emotion, the interplay of the your voice over the quiet strum and the bassy paino chords gives me chills. so beautiful!!

Really nice, and wow that's on an iPhone? Your phone recordings sound better than mine. I like all the metaphors, which rooms are locked up, forgot they were there, really nicely done. I like the backing vocals too

Oh wow, this is sensational. Such a great meditation on letting yourself be emotionally vulnerable, told through a very clever metaphor! And it sounds crazy good for an iPhone recording. The way the soft backing vocals get slowly drawn into the track is also wonderful, as is the lovely rich sound of that acoustic. A triumph! Amazing work both.

Really superb. Great lyric and a very modern feel. Amazingly accomplished recording too!

This song has all the feels. That falling then climbing chord progression in the pre chorus is delightful. The harmonies that start later in the song suggest a slow progression of letting someone in which mirrors the lyrics. Really great write.

Great stuff! I like how the vocal and the bass notes of the piano both open up (pun intended) in the second verse

I can imagine this as an outtake from the movie Once. Powerful piano chords, well supported by the shuffling guitar.

This fills the listener with the emotions of the lyric and the performance. Great chorus!
