DO YOUR HEART GOOD

Liner Notes

So, Jerry, really--you think you're "Chris Stapleton" now?

Maybe Rod Stewart on his death bed...

You're actually trying to put some "grit" in your vocal? Close, buddy--let's just say what you're doing, um, "rhymes"...

So, yeah--not sure I'll be going for that "aesthetic" any time in the near future. 😉

But I hope you enjoy the song!

DO YOUR HEART GOOD

In the shadow of the valley,
where the rivers run dry,
I've been walking through
the darkness,
with no stars in the sky.
But there's a fire deep within me,
burning steady and bright,
I won't let these troubles break me,
I'll stand up and fight.

(Chorus)
Do your heart good, rise above
the storm,
Find your strength in the struggle,
let your spirit be reborn.
Through the trials and the pain,
know you're understood,
Every step that you take will
do your heart good.

I've seen mountains tall and mighty,
that I thought I'd never climb,
Felt the weight of the world
on my shoulders, but I kept
my faith in time.
There's a light that keeps on shining,
even when the road is rough,
It's the love that keeps me going,
it's the courage to be tough.

(Chorus)
Do your heart good, rise above
the storm,
Find your strength in the struggle,
let your spirit be reborn.
Through the trials and the pain,
know you're understood,
Every step that you take will
do your heart good.

(Bridge)
In the whispers of the wind,
I hear a song of hope,
Telling tales of those before me,
who found ways to cope.
They remind me I'm not alone,
in this journey that I face,
With every breath, with every beat,
I embrace my grace.

(Chorus)
Do your heart good, rise above
the storm,
Find your strength in the struggle,
let your spirit be reborn.
Through the trials and the pain,
know you're understood,
Every step that you take will
do your heart good.

So I'll keep on moving forward,
with my head held high,
Through the heartache and
the battles, I'll reach
for the sky.
For in every scar and story,
lies the courage and the proof,
That overcoming every challenge,
does your heart good.

Rod Stewart on his deathbed? lol. I love the lyrics here. They stand tall, right along with your backing track.

It's great to see you stretching your boundaries and trying something new. Nice sentiment here.

That rasp in your voice Jerry. only emphasises the message in this glorious, anthemic song! Chris Stapleton could cover this and win a Grammy, I reckon...
Having said that, I hope your throat recovers soon...😉

Very nice. I like the words of encouragement and the positive vibe I get from this song.

Well this is a new vocal style I haven’t heard from you before! I rather like it. It’s gritty and passionate. I thought this was going to be a health conscious song by the picture of the doctor in your vid. It turns out it’s a ‘do your soul good’ song. Nice work!

You’ve gravelled up a bit bro! This is an excellent song! My fav this time so far! Everything is exactly where it should be! Bravo

I agree with @paul_pedersen, it did my heart good to hear this song!! Wonderful job!! The verses and the chorus work together beautifully with the chorus bringing the lift our hearts need right now. Thanks for this!

This is really good throughout. You had me from the start and your Hook / chorus drove the point home. Great Job!

It did my heart good to hear this song, Jerry. It has an encouraging message riding in a Rod Stewart texture.

Oh this doesn't disappoint Jerry. Great production as ever, and Sir Rod the mod would be flattered I think. Great job!

Best Rod Stewart song I've heard in a long time. Now youve got to take it even higher with your B-side. Ill be first in line to buy the album.

Exactly what I was going to say @katestantonsings Like-minded ears - lol! Really enjoying these deeper, grittier vocals this season, Jerry!

Your vocals sound great, Jerry! They remind me of Bruce Springsteen here. The guitars & bass line in particular are both awesome throughout. You have such an ear for infectious pop melodies. I think it's your Beach Boys education. Mad respect for the Wilson bros. Do your heart good and keep creating & sharing!!
