Liner Notes

I started out with a fragment and ended up with another fragment, but that’s the nature of progress sometimes. I kept the idea and first line of a scrap of lyrics from July 10 and wrote a verse and chorus.

Lyrics

Time is its own currency
Time is buried deep in the ground
To sell it
You have to stamp it and sign it
And give it a sound

So let me sell a little piece of my time
And let me sell a little piece of my heart
And I will sign it on the bottom line
And we can all say
That it’s some kind of art

These seem profound lyrics to me. The "sign it on the bottom line" is a great line. This is definitely worth exploring further. Maybe turn it into a kind of uptempo acoustic song, maybe that would juxtapose with the lyrics?

Sometimes you just have to stir up the fragments and see what settles! I like the sound of this and the lyrics. Selling time, selling pieces of our hearts -- really interesting ideas.
