A pretty little love song with some imagery that came from that first line. I've got myself an upright piano and have been teaching myself to play. As I'm relatively new to it I find it easier to write on than my guitar as everything sounds new; despite this being a simple little two chord trick.
I've kept it short and sweet but did manage to find a nice outro chorus type thing to end it.

Lyrics

You did a little pirouette,
I recognised your silhouette,
An 18th-century minuet,
You danced into the night.
From day to day and week to week,
We never had enough to eat,
But we always found the time to laugh
and sing and dance around.

Always ends before it starts,
The nights begin in mornings past,
And the days are left to find,
Except the voices and their warnings,
Felt the need to add some pain,
Lit up like a spotlight’s aim,
Moved to tears,
The music spears the hearts and minds of all who hear.

You speak in tongues in a language that is only meant for you and me,
When morning comes, we are loathed to meet the day because it’s January,
And you’re next to me,
Right where we want to be.

As a balletomane I had to click on this one... such lovely lilting vocal pirouettes! This has a danceability to it that would be perfect to choreograph to, lots of swoops and spins and fancy footwork. Nice dynamic shift in the final minute. Congrats on the piano! Has a very nice tone. Sometimes two chords is all you need.

Loved hearing your pirhouetting voice with the piano on this one. I love the way that a new instrument makes me write differently too. It brings a certain degree of freedom and ability to try new things hey? Keep up the piano, you're doing great!

Your use of the simple piano comping is a perfect background to let us hear the complex and intricate vocal melody and perfectly subtle harmony voicing. Super cool!

Oooh, we have this in common - I also have an upright and I am learning to play on it. I did submit a couple songs last fawm on it, but we moved and i didnt have access to the piano for a few months throughout this year. I think I've improved but ..only in the key of C! Haha! Appreciating your harmonies, especially in the riffy held out melodies. Really nice playing and singing <3

@oiko
great vocal! very clear with beautiful tone, a good melody. the lyrics work really well, too. the simple piano background is working well to give it a lot of space! if you're doing anything more on it at some point, perhaps allowing the the chords to break up/arpeggiate and dance around a bit in the background of those phrases at 0:40–0:53 could be an interesting change and a little "peak" in the song.

This is so adorable and beautiful! The vocal melody is wonderful, how it just kind of keeps going without stopping until the end of the stanza. I love the lyrics... And that first trio of lines, with that uncommon rhyme... So good. I'm going to have to come back and listen to that again.

This song is such a poignant moment in time. The simplicity of the piano background leaves plenty of room for you to pack the lyrics and the melody with so much interesting detail. Love "From day to day and week to week/We never had enough to eat..." Also love the harmonies!!

Great title and poetic lyrics. Vocals really heartfelt. The simple piano accompaniment works well, with some really nice shifts and melodies. Enjoyed!

The lyrics and the melody were ment for each other!
And i love hove you sing the pirouette at the end of the verses!

Well you definitely play well enough to make this song really worth it! The melody/harmony and words are excellent! What a very nice song to hear on such a grey day! Well done!

Oh wow. Love the melody. And those lyrics are very cool.

Really sweet. I don't know the correct terms, but your voice sort of dances and jumps at the end of each verse, so that fits with the idea of a pirouette. And it sounds nice anyway.
