I came across a snippet @billwhite51 posted in response to the #chancewritting challenge posed by @musicsongwriter I expanded the section into a whole lyric and sent it along to Bill he made some great changes and sent it back for me to record a version. It could be fun to hear it with a very different musical setting - that represents the glittery fake world of Rodeo Drive instead of the Girl in the Rambler who is maybe a lot more familiar with rodeos and barrel riding.

Lyrics

two lassies on a corner
of rodeo drive
dressed in sunny outfits
in 1985

waiting for the walk sign
one asked the other lass
"shall we stop for sushi
or go straight to yoga class?"

I was in my /rambler
idling on red
I'd replaced my muffler
so I heard what they said

i said "if you want raw fish
Ive got perch in the back
but if you want to practice yoga
youd better get your ass to class

they crossed before the light changed
just to get away from me
i wanted to be with them
but my light would not go green

CHORUS
ooh ooh ooh ooh
ooh ooh ooh ooh
two lassies on the corner
id be one if i could
i never did have money
but i cleaned up real good

i had paintings to deliver
to the binder gallery
they were painted by my boyfriend
a venezuelan refugee

but i was late for an audition
for some part I wouldn't get
Still sure that I'd get famous
I just hadn't got there yet

CHORUS
ooh ooh ooh ooh
ooh ooh ooh ooh
two lassies on the corner
id be one if i could
i never did have money
but i cleaned up real good

It seems like a fun little song but tells a whole lot of story. I could watch this play out as Nancy sang. Love the vibe of the music and vocals. What a great collab!

Really catchy story telling - the very interesting details pull you right in. Love the title also. Nancy's delivery always adds such a compelling element to her songs - like how she sings ""shall we stop for sushi or go straight to yoga class?" - the word just leap off the page with that delivery. The is a collaboration in the true spirit of FAWM - well done!

Great chorus. Love the whole story setting and so many great memorable lines, about the sushi and the perch in the back. Get your ass to class, lol, so good. The second part about the paintings and Venezuelan refugee, is great and the line " still sure that I'd get famous / I just hadn't got there yet" is pure gold. Like the pacing of the song and delivery.

I really like the extra dimension you brought to this one, @nancycunning ! I love the perspective of the girl in the Rambler. And the sweet ooohs!

Fun song to listen to. I'm so glad to see how Bill's initial response to the challenge grew and you had a ping pong collaboration :) Lovely. I liked the idea of ping pong collaboration offered on FAWM. Lovely to listen to your co-written song.
