Big Box Of Greed

Liner Notes

Another @cindyrella lyric but this one I found all by myself. I was intrigued by the title and the premise of greed being unleashed onto the world like the opening of Pandora's box.
Anyways, I wanted the song to be a more organically driving piece of music as the lyric lended itself to a more rapid-fire delivery. Enjoy :)

Lyrics

Big Box of Greed
© 2024 Cindy Prince

So many grasp it
Their fist is far too tight
To ever let it open again

So many hoard it
It is a terrible sight
They say being rich is not a sin

Too many hide it
Keep it off shore
Insisting they need tax breaks

So many have pride in it
Some will even wage war
Say they took the risk and high stakes

Chorus
I wish we'd never opened it
The big box of greed
It brought world wide havoc
It is like a poisonous weed
That winds around and chokes
Far supressing any need
I wish we'd never opened it

Bridge
Once it was opened
It was like Pandora's box
Counting all their billions
Saving all their stocks

All could give it away
But they'll die with it
There is a unending hole inside

They can't be swayed
They will cry for it
Never understanding the other side

Repeat chorus

yup greed and therefore money is the root of so much evil or maybe just an excuse for bad people! loved the lyric and this is the right style to bring it home!

Fantastic! Great lyric, great music and performance! Love that fast vocal phrasing in the verses and all the contrasting sections—excellent!!

So happy these great lyrics and their message have bene put to music. There is a real Fleetwood Mac's "Rumours" feel to this.
