The skirmish asked for something unpleasant, and “funk” in its literal meaning is something that smells unpleasant. This song is about the fumes inside an imagined metal fabrication plant followed by the relief at breathing fresh air again.

Lyrics

It takes real work to pull this world together
But you would not want to spend the whole day in those rooms
You might weld one piece of steel to another
When you step outside you want to breathe out the fumes

With a laser you can trace a shape in metal
All the holes end up in the cart as junk
But the particles get in your nose and that can’t be natural
You want to step outside and blow out the funk

Blow out the funk
Blow out the funk
Yes gracious
Blow out the funk
Feels better
And then
Here you are again

It’s a dirty job cleaning the machinery
It takes a high speed spray to shake loose all the gunk
When the work is done and you’re making your delivery
That’s when you you get your chance to blow out the funk

Blow out the funk
Blow out the funk
Yes gracious
Blow out the funk
Feels better
And then
Here you are again

It’s a dirty job
Then it’s done
A dirty job
Then it’s done
A dirty job
Then it’s

Blow out the funk
Blow out the funk
Yes gracious
Blow out the funk
Feels better
Do it one more time
Blow out the funk
Blow out the funk
Yes gracious
Blow out the funk
Pull out all the stops
And then
Here you are again

Great evocation of the working day of your narrator.

I used to install or repair electric wiring in factories during August shutdowns. The filth up in the platforms running under the roof was indescribable. It was dangerous enough working up high, but the gunk made the job doubly slippery and dangerous. Three points of contact always!

Very strong and singable lyrics. Cool take on the prompt.

Wonderful idea! Get some funky music and it's a hit! Love it!

I can picture these scenes! I can also picture these lyrics with the music meaning of funk at the same time. Those short phrases are calling for a good rhythm.
