Our songwriting/collaboration is typically:
1. Write some lyrics based on our email conversations.
2. Send it back and forth a few times with lyric and melody ideas until the song emerges.
3. Add some things.
4. Add a few more things for a proper kitchen sink outro section.
5. Edit, mix, post.

Lyrics

Busy, But Happy - By David Taro and Dan Vaillancourt

I’ve been chasing my tail so long
I don’t know what it looks like anymore
Or what I’m even running for this time
Everything’s in the air
Summer is the time when routine dies
There’s mischief in your eyes my love
And the lights go on forever, ever more
I’m busy, but I’m happy

Chorus:
My mind is free for a moment
Momentarily at peace
Intruding thoughts please stay at bay
Building memories piece by piece
The work will always be there
But let’s make more time to play…
Like fireflies at dusk baby
Just riding out the day.

I got a list that keeps on growing
All these things I gotta do
But I’ll put ‘em off for you, my love
A bike, a plane, a train
Or just these sandals on my feet
To send me walking down this street with you
‘Cause the lights go on forever, ever more
I’m busy, but I’m happy

Ending:
As long as we’re together
A bit overwhelmed but I’m okay
Days fading into night
Day after day
I’m busy… but I’m happiest
When I let the ocean, lake or rain
Wash my anxieties away
Just let this feeling stay
Let fool-happy be my state of mind…
I’m busy, but I’m happy

I like the lyrics. Great backing track + vocal delivery. Cool collab!

What a wonderful way to collab! Love the last 2 lines of the verses functioning as a great pre-chorus. I think it is excellent prosody that the chorus is kind of a bit of a break with the minimal backing track movement - and those lovely brief moments of "peace" after each lyric line. I am always here for the kitchen sink outro - and this one is just the perfect rise to end this uplifting song on. Great collab and your sound great together.

Boys power! A great song and collaboration. What a great team! Artur and Mason, I hope you join FAWM :) Love the positive feel of your song. Fantastic lyrics, music, singing, playing and musicianship. You are a great team and each of you shine with talents.

Well well...we have some FAWM luminaries here at the top of their game. That "busy but happy" line is fantastic, both for what it means and how you deliver it. I like the chorus. It strikes me as sort of unorthodox, like your winding down rather than winding up. The whole song is a straight shop of busy contentment. And fireflies! I moved from a place with fireflies to a place without...and I miss them. Thanks for setting some loose here

Really noticing David's collaborations this "season"--they are ALWAYS GREAT! Really nice job with your "back and forth" lyric-writing, and, of course, the music (and vocal) are particularly professional. Great job! ❤️

great in the phones - i feel i need 4 ears to keep u with the movement! lovely easy progression that is so comfortable! and you push your voice just enough not too much. All the little bits by each participant all stand out in there time but meld as one . Class - you know near the end it has a Bowie full song feel

Y'ALL. Your voices work SO WELL together! Especially with the bit of effect on @danvaillancourt's voice giving everything a bit of a scuzzier, Sparklehorse-y indie feel to @davidtaro's rich and expressive vocals. Great lyrics, wonderfully expressing the main idea and the whole arrangement is so full and so fun! A lot of really great lines, but that end to the chorus, especially the line about the fireflies is SO good.

Back to school to learn how to perform the task in front of you to the best of your ability from the Masters…🎓🎓🎓🎓
It requires concentration, dedication and attention to detail but the results will justify all the hard work invested in the process…😓🧐🤔😵‍💫
Then when completed, the rewards will be plentiful and joyous to behold…👌🤩🥳👏
Gold stars all round! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

good to see you back from holiday, david and this is an excellent return to the fold. i really like that last verse where you and dan sing together. it has the loose energy of the early Faces. people have been posting about their favorite lyrics on the forum lately, and when i think about lyrics it is not the literary content that makes it for me, but the small touches. in this song, it i the "my love" that replaces the written "this time" in the first verse and recurs only twice in the song...yet it is what sticks with me and what i wait for on subsequent listens. but that whole first verse captures me right away and the full band arrangement with real players keeps me intoxicated throughout.

Current mood: This song. "Intruding thoughts"? Relatable yikes. "The work will always be there"? True! "Summer is the time when routine dies"? This summer, for sure. " "there's mischief in your eyes"? Isn't there??? I just wanna grab a roll of quarters and feed them into a jukebox of this song

A perfect multi-collar from a power team, all of whom know what they're doing! 😀 I was drawn in by the very first line. And I especially liked, "Let fool-happy be my state of mind." I could certainly relate to the feeling of having too much to do (it's 5090, after all!) and I liked the recognition that there's WAY too much to do, but it's OK.

This is so much fun! The clear production really makes it happen, the drums are so cool, I can hear everything. A great collaboration here, well done!

Interesting that the title is the last line of each verse. The verses really appeal to me. this is a great collaboration well done
