It was an Arcturian light code diagram that got this song started. It showed me how the layers of meaning in a word (for example) relate to each other. Using that new knowledge, this song was an experiment in which I set out to redefine the word “city” only within the context of the song. While I was doing that, I think I stumbled upon one of the secrets of pop hits by rock artists, which often pack more of a punch by creating these packets of meaning in the verses in order to deploy them in the chorus.

The term “city beat” has a meaning in journalism, closely related to “city desk,” and I use that existing meaning as a point of reference in creating a new meaning here.
