Had the hook and it made me laugh... had to write it into something... this is first pass for now... The beginning verses came from a Jeff Tweedy (Wilco) songwriting excercise I saw in his book How to Write One Song - where you write down your observations - these were from my back yard, skunk family moved in under the deck, hit the dog 3X!!, rabbits, dogwoods and some logs - the "toughs" were a memory insertion from my early teens LMAO - Thougt we were soooo cooool! HAHAHA!

Still needs a lot of work but I like it so far!

Dogwood’s berried and a dusky dog
Night bunny crosses a mossy log
Young toughs, on a moonless night
Something’s off doesn’t smell quite right

Numbers grow and begin to roll
Direction’s set, one way to go

smell arising in the bedtime hour
