FOREVER DIDN'T LAST LONG

Well, we started out so young,
in the summer's golden haze,
We thought our love would shine,
through our remaining days.
But as the seasons turned,
and the years just slipped away,
From what we once held dear,
we found it couldn't stay.

CHORUS:
FOREVER DIDN'T LAST LONG,
oh, how the days moved on.
Time and change, my friend,
often sing a tragic song.
Our love, it couldn't hold on,
though we both tried to stay strong,
FOREVER DIDN'T LAST LONG.

We'd sit beneath the stars,
in the moonlight's soft embrace,
Believing that our dreams,
could never be erased.
But as the years rolled by,
we both began to see,
That time and change, my love,
would one day set us free.

CHORUS:
FOREVER DIDN'T LAST LONG,
oh, how the days moved on.
Time and change, my friend,
often sing a tragic song.
Our love, it couldn't hold on,
though we both tried to stay strong,
FOREVER DIDN'T LAST LONG.

In the pages of our past,
we found the love we knew,
A chapter in our lives,
forever in our view.
Though we both walk different paths,
and will find a life anew,
The love we had, my dear,
it always will shine through.

As the sun sets on our story,
and we sing our farewell song,
We'll cherish what we had,
though FOREVER DIDN'T LAST LONG.
Time and change, my love,
they've made us who we are,
FOREVER DIDN'T LAST LONG,
but we'll still wish upon a star.

CHORUS:
FOREVER DIDN'T LAST LONG,
oh, how the days moved on.
Time and change, my friend,
often sing a tragic song.
Our love, it couldn't hold on,
though we both tried to stay strong,
FOREVER DIDN'T LAST LONG.

What a great intro. Great melody - some unexpected but welcome turns made it really fun to listen to. Great chorus also - I really like how you started and ending with the title line. Nice flow to the song and good energy also - even though it is a sad story it feels like the narrator survived!!

Love the title! To me, your work sounds like a 60's band that never was (or at least was not mainstream - and should have been). Beautiful job!!

As I was reviewing your LONG list of songs--How productive you are!--I just had to stop and listen to this one! Great title! I like the way "set us free" lifted, rather than the more common choice. A good rollicking song.

"Forever didn't last long" is a great hook. As @donna indicated, it's a title that makes a person want to listen. I think we can relate to the story because we've all had our false starts. You just have to live through them to get to the combination of personalities that click.

The title drew me in. You tell such a relatable story, recounting many of the unimaginable number of every-young-couple's-dreams.

Nice tight lyric, and a pleasing delivery.

I love the poignancy in 'Forever didn't last long/But we'll still wish upon a star'. Somehow it seems true that hope does spring eternal in the human breast. (-:

I've said it before and I'll say it again...your writing, vocal delivery and production skills sound so commercial and radio/online friendly to me that I can only think that it is your lack of public scandal and previous partners selling their stories to the media etc preventing you from mega stardom! 😉

the inescapable syndrome of young love is that it never lasts. you do a fine job of defining it here from the perspective of someone who knows this is the way it had to be.

Nice cadence to it and lyrical 'story' was getting George Harrison vibes.

Nice vocal delivery, music, and words. Nostalgic, relatable and so true.
Nothing in this world is permanent.

Funny how a simple element can add so much to a song - in this case that pause in the last line of the chorus Forever (pause) didn't last long. Nice song about a relationship that ends because people's life paths need to go in different directions. Been there; done that.

Enjoyed your vocal delivery throughout and the chorus is very nicely structured with the title bookending the rest of the lyrics.

Very catchy title and gorgeous my new favourite song of yours. Beautifully created, sang and played. A very true situation.

@sbs
Cool intro in my headphones - unexpected and some here might say so "abrupt it made their ears hurt" (I'm not saying that, though). Your vocals are so consistent. Kudos!
