Liner Notes

It's time for a bit of #slothcore, I reckon. 35 bpm should do.

Last week my neighbours had their leylandii hedge cut down (it was overhanging everyone else's gardens by a couple of metres, so hooray for that) and there was much use of chainsaws and industrial-sized wood chipper machines. I recorded it all, of course. And then I threw the results at PaulXStretch, added a bunch of guitars, Damage Drum Kit, and loads of Heavyocity's wonderful new "Oblivion" synth VST and cranked the compression right up. Play this one loud.

Nobody’s sleeping tonight(including the neighbors!) great innovation.

Deep blues. As deep as it can get, I suspect.

Came for the cool title, stayed for the massive, churning, roiling, POWERFUL thrums and noises and chords assaulting my ears from all sides (in my headphones). Huge, energizing, and just absolutely FIERCE!

What an inventive thing to do to turn what could be just an irritating noise into a piece that is full of dread, power and excoriating dynamism!

Holy moly this sounds massive!

I'm so glad you recorded this! Lots of possibilities here with what you can do with all that. Side note my friend and I used to never be able to say "Troy built chipper vac" without cracking up for some reason in middle school. I think at one point we even just made a fake commercial for one when I was in college cause that joke followed us there. We still can't say it with a straight face.

Sloths with power tools! Those naps are just enough of a lull to emphasize the jolt of getting back to work. Very cool.

I love the fact that you've used field recordings to build this. This is intense - but in an oh-so-wonderfully spectacular way. You really feel the compression on the sounds, which gives this such a massive sound. I like that the nap a little before the 3:00 minute mark has an almost lullaby feel before the intense, industrial sounds return. That's a really cool touch. This is so good!

See You In The Shadows…

p.s. Love the play on the classic joke: "Needs more cowbell…" 😉
