For folks who know Bill White's story, you might guess there's a strong autobiographical element to these tender lyrics, like the best ones often are. I'm honored that he trusted me enough to put them into my hands for musical interpretation. Hope this does them justice.

Bill- when I wrote this lyric, I knew that jeff was the only person knew who would grace it with the perfect melody, and sing it just right. communicated not only how i felt when i wrote it, but how the characters in the song feel about the situation described in the song. It is a beautiful song, but so sad that I am afraid to play it for the little girl who it is about....i think i will save it for when she is older , when it will remind her, without tears, of how much her mother loved her.

Read the words first - wonderful, heartwrenching, powerful. Such vivid images - the birthday, the report card, the YouTube likes.
And yes - perfect musical setting and soul-stirring vocals. Amazing collab!

Oh Estrella ❤️

This country song is the perfect expression for these feelings.

My heart just breaks at "you didn't care one way or another/ because you couldn't show it to your mother"

Oh, this is a real heartbreaker and tear jerker. I just love the lyrics, the music and the way Jeff sings it. What a wonderful collab. Congrats, you two powerhouses. (How can we enjoy feeling sad? This song does that for me.)

Bill writes such a lovely, heart-breaking tribute and Jeff was indeed the right person to convey Bill’s feelings perfectly.

Buttery smooth and wow a real tear jerker. Perfect collab here with the lyrics and the composition. I don't know what else to say, it's perfect.

Very beautiful song and collaboration, filled with love which will continue to shine. Poignant and moving. Very beautiful, heartfelt lyrics, music, singing and playing. A very special collaboration. Always remembered, never forgotten, always loved. Soulful tribute to a very special person. Thank you, Bill and Jeff, your song speaks to everyone who lost and it is a reminder of how important it is to treasure dear ones.

Jeff is one of the most authentic country voices around here, and he puts some nice music together under those vocals. Bill, you couldn't have gotten anyone better for this terrific collaboration. Well done, fellas! ❤️

Heartbreaking lyrics! Beautiful, perfect vocals from Jeff. What an awesome gift for future Estrella. The things missed are the things that cannot be replaced. One year I wrote “A Lifetime is a Long Time to Never Have Known You” about my dad’s side of the family.

This is a great song and I can relate, having lost a parent at 7. I agree Jeff is a perfect choice to perform it.

When Estrella hears this as an older child, she will surely feel the unconditional love that is expressed in this song that both her parents have for her and know that she comes from a place of deep devotion which should give her strength and assurance as she continues in her life...
A beautiful, tender and painfully exquisite song...❤

Very hard to listen without tearing up. Not only are the words heartbreaking, but Jeff’s delivery of the melody communicates so much of their emotion, the combination is sad and beautiful and perfect. Brilliant song.

Musically: tender, sad and soft vocals. This slow country music fits so good with the lyrics.
Lyrically: my heart is aching when i hear this! And i remember my Dad who lost his mum when he was seven. ♥️

Wow, y'all. Your tender singing and beautifully classic melody here, giving me a bit of Willie Nelson and some of the tenderest outlaw country. And these lyrics! Heartbreaking -- that chorus especially is so succinct and gut-wrenching.
