Ich lebe mein Leben in wachsenden Ringen (Rilke)

by @mahtowin

Liner Notes

I really like the rhythm of this very well-known poem by Rilke! Also its atmosphere...that ancient one. The one that is always there. I am not religious and do not believe in God - but I am a spiritual person. And these lines contain so much that has nothing to do with religion: the eternal circle of life!

Lyrics

R. M. Rilke
-------------------------
I live my life in growing rings,
that extend over things.
I may not complete the last one,
but I want to try it.

I circle around God, around the ancient tower,
and I circle for thousands of years.
And I don't know yet, I'm a hawk, a storm
or a big song?

Wow, the ambience is strong on this one. Very cinematic sounding. Nice work!

Spiritual vs Religious. I can relate. 😉
Wonderful mystical feel. That synth is exquisite, and your voice, gorgeous, as always. The remote singing (kind of circling above the song, like a bird) gives an ethereal feel to the piece, and the deep voice in the forefront sounds like some white magic incantation. Superb.

Mmm...I'm glad I had my good headphones, because this sounds so great. I love this so much. Thanks for sharing the poem. It brought to mind a verse from my favorite band, Destroyer:
But her maxims were fine
The ethos that flew about her mind
Like swallows in search of a burned-down bell tower church
(My family knows I have a weird Destroyer fetish. I will quote them anytime. Sorry about that.)

Ooh...love the way you go high at the end)

The poem was not well known to me though I have read a little Rilke. Thank you for bringing it to life. Enjoy your future life as a hawk!

Sounds like you're all three! Nice musical stew. Like the organish waves a lot. Beautiful.
