Liner Notes
This is a collaboration. I created the music and voice for Liz's song. I ran it through a filter for this sound. I hope it came out well enough for you to her. Thank you Liz fo the inspiration.
Lyrics
V1
riding in the foothills
by Gambel oaks and shrubs
following a dry creek bed
guided by sun above
looking for a water hole
a cool place in the shade
to roll out my blanket
as the day starts to fade
V2
setting up a lean-to
my horse hitched to a tree
this nomadic life calls
to set my spirit free
playing my harmonica
by sagebrush and thistles
I hear a faint melody
from a far-off whistle
C1
this is the life I want….
quiet but not silent
a pan, a coffee pot
and two saddlebags
are all that I’ve got
this is the life I lead….
alone but not lonely
just my old horse and me
loving the solitude
of back hill country
V3
and then I see a woman
in dusty boots and chaps
saunter toward my fire
tipping her cowboy hat ….
she asks if she can join me
and offers me some gum
pulls out a ukulele
then she begins to strum…
V4
she sings about bright stars
she uses as her map
talks about rugged trials
in places she’s been at
she lies on the ground
puts her head on my thigh
whispers a tune softly
looks deep into my eyes
C2
this is the life we want…
quiet but not silent
two pans, two coffee pots
and four saddlebags
are all that we’ve got
this is the life we lead…
coupled but not attached
horses for her and me
loving cowgirl ways
of back hill country
OUTRO
loving cowgirl ways
of back hill country
