Shooting Stars (A Lullaby for J.)
by @odilongreen
Liner Notes
I wanted to do something fast.
Also, it’s time I start teaching my toddler nephew J. about *real* music, while his mind is still malleable and impressionable. Something we can joyfully sing together for years to come.
I wrote a song on the same general topic for FAWAM 2016, over eight years ago. But given that some people make careers writing about love and relationships over and over (and over) again, I think I can be forgiven for two songs with this theme every decade.
Incidentally, this song really is 100% true. Look it up!
And as usual, here’s an appropriate AI “cover” image:
Live baritone ukulele. Keyboard-played percussion and synths.

Lyrics
If you see at night
A streak of light
That glides right across
The sky
It may be a comet
or perhaps a rocket
That you see with your
Twinkling eye
But I will tell you true
It’s most likely just poo
From astronauts
Living in space
It drops so I hear
Into the atmosphere
Where it burns up and leaves
Not a trace
So my dearest child
I’ll tell you no lies
You can trust me to
Give the real scoop
When you make your wishes
Upon shooting stars
You just might be wishing
on poop
Yes, when you make your wishes
Upon shooting stars
You’re probably wishing
on poop
