I’ve been wanting to write a song from Andy Dufresne’s point of view for a while (he of the Shawshank Redemption, who never gave up hope even in his worst moments) and the line “Hope is a good thing, and no good thing ever really dies” came to me and wouldn’t leave when I saw this skirmish. I’m so grateful to @cbmagic for this prompt!

Also, you might notice a lot of 7 chords. I started fiddling around with some chords from “Landslide” and it was all 7s, so I just kept them for this song.
