Heavy Metal in Yass (Water)
by @danielkelly
Liner Notes
My least favorite type of song to write, but also the most important to me. Exposing bureaucratic and political action that puts regular people at risk.
(Yass is the town where I live, and high levels of Manganese in the water is a long-term problem, ignored by several local and state governments)
Lyrics
A
We are into heavy metal,
D
out here in the shire,
A
It’s lurking in the water,
D
And the rates getting higher.
E
I like a little Iron,
D
When I have a cup of tea,
E
3 milligrams of Aluminium
F7
Is a bit too much for me,
E D A
So you better fix the water,
E D A
It’s taking far too long,
E D A
You said you’d damn well solved it,
E (E D A)
But here’s another flamin song x2
You couldn’t fill the forms out,
To get needed grant,
For three hundred thousand dollars,
How did we hire someone who can’t.
You told us that the water,
Had been cleared safe to drink,
But independent testing,
Suggests your figures stink.
Comments
Nice use of metal as the vehicle for a suitably angry protest song. Keep making noise!
