I Hope You Never Take One Breath Too Many (fresh and spotless youth forever)

I contain multitudes--each a teenager who just got an instrument and really wants to be in a band. We keep it spirited, at the very least. Personally, I'm never getting cut from the dream team of misspent youth. You probably won't either. I'm not sure what I mean by the place "where no accidents happen." I knew the song was just going to roll around in a circle, and I needed a way to jump in. Maybe I'll find something that makes sense later. Or maybe you can tell me why it already makes sense. The rest of it I stand by 100%

Lyrics

I was once there too
Where no accidents happen
I hope you never take one breath too many

Your fresh and spotless youth
Is there for you to use
Now
I hope you never take one breath too many

Your Seasons in the Sun
Is the best song ever sung
Now
I hope you never take one breath too many

It’s a world of give or take
So we’re all of the same age
I hope you never take one breath too many

In a world of give or take
We're all of the same age
I hope you never take one breath too many

Your fresh and spotless youth
It’s there for you to use...now!
I hope you never take one breath too many

What a hook you came up with! That line, "I hope you never take one breath too many" is a real earworm, so nicely carried by your enthusiastic band. There's a rush of nostalgia in the upbeat chords, and that's lovely.
I really like the break on "now!" -- I could call that "meaningful silence", as it captures your listeners' attention, and make them focus on the essence of your message.

Feels very much of a piece with Dream Team of Misspent Youth. Definitely building a new album here! Again, it’s got that end of a hard day, singalong in the bar vibe, which is frankly irresistible (where do I sign up?). Love the sense of joy tinged with melancholy, classic combo ;)

Nicely thoughtful and reflective; maybe I'm misreading the title line, but this strikes me as a more mature approach to the "I hope I die before I get old" trope. Upbeat but maybe kind of sad and lovely through and through.

Of course I keep thinking about the mysterious well wishes now. I love the unique shape and the clarity.

for me, the one breath too many is the song the need not have been sung. this is another good one, but then again, i have never heard you take one breath to many. you always breathe out air as fresh and spotless as the ones you breathe in.

Very catchy line in "I hope you never take one breath too many," which could be taken in several ways. I like the fact that you're singing to yourself. Love the "Go!" Nice garagey sound. Lovely little tune!

@sbs
So bittersweet! Loved the “Seasons in the Sun” reference. And your whole “Spotless Youth” thing. Nice!

this is great. so catchy. it has a kind of 70s sound. i love the circular thing. i didn’t want it to end! you said you didn’t know what you meant by “a place where no accidents happen” to me it’s about how everything that has happened to you has made you the person you are today. so you’re talking about youth and all the mistakes you make when you’re young help shape who you are. anyway that’s what i got from it. great song
