Lyrics

I don't know what to do, even less what to say
Each time I think of you I want to change my ways
But then I see her face and this old heart starts to swell
Those feelings come my way, the ones I know so well

I know I'm not weak but this feeing its strong
My head would do right but my heart will do wrong
She's taking control of my days and my nights
Whatever I do, it won't turn out right

'Cause of this new love I've found
There'll be tears a'plenty falling all around

She's got those eyes you had when your eyes were bright and blue
Now those eyes call to me with their fiery hue
She's got the smile you wore the first time I kissed your face
Now that smile calls to me, takes me to a special place

I've been there before and I know I should leave
My legs want to run but my heart is deceived
No shoulder to cry on, no kind ear to bend
When the love that you lose is your very best friend

'Cause of this new love I've found
There'll be tears a'plenty falling all around

Loving you was easy, loving you was hard
Loving you once made me want to stay
But loving you lately is not in the cards
When this gambling man throws his hand away

As I walk out that door into the dark of night
I see you look my way like everything's alright
But I'm prepared to fall for this new love I've found
And I'll forsake it all as I slide on down

I know I'm not weak but this feeing its strong
My head would do right but my heart will do wrong
Tomorrow I'll cry for the love I have lost
I've forsaken it all and forgotten the cost

'Cause of this new love I've found
There'll be tears a'plenty falling all around
'Cause of this new love I've found
There'll be tears a'plenty falling all around

Interesting. I can’t think of another Blues song where the singer is the one leaving for someone else. I like the contrast between the slow and stately sections with the ones that are syllable-packed. And that guitar is fantastic.

Definitely time for some blues. Tell ya what though, the singer's current lady may well be up on a murder charge. But no jury will convict her. This is definitely a bluesy blues, with disaster seen and being chosen regardless. Enjoyed this one! (Sometimes I wish my guitar playing was less crap, but hey, I can always pull out the cigarbox and get away with it, I suppose. Translated, that means: nice guitar work in this song!) EDIT applause for the neat ending/outro, BTW

@sbs
You had me at the downward motion of that blues guitar! I have visions of somebody doing the Stroll - oh, wait! It’s me - lol!
